Posting Note: The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) at Phoenix Children’s in Phoenix, Arizona, is seeking a pediatric hematologist/oncologist to serve as Associate Division Chief - Director of Clinical Operations. Our ideal candidate is a mid-career or senior level physician with broad clinical and leadership experience in pediatric hematology/oncology. The Associate Division Chief - Director of Clinical Operations will work collaboratively with the CCBD Division Chair and Administrative Director to lead and further develop the clinical-operative as well as programmatic component of the CCBD. Opportunity: The CCBD at Phoenix Children's is one of the largest pediatric programs in the Southwestern US. The Center sees an average of 390 new oncology and 1800 new hematology patients per year, and includes a FACT accredited Cellular Therapy program which manages 45-55 BMT/Immunotherapy procedures annually. The hematology/oncology floor has 48 single patient rooms, including a designated wing with 16 HEPA-filtered, positive pressure rooms for particularly immune-deficient patients. The CCBD has additional active clinical and laboratory research programs in oncology, neuro-oncology, survivorship, hemophilia, sickle cell disease and phase I/phase II investigational drug development. Patients are cared for on the main hospital campus as well as two satellite settings, both of which will be associated with a satellite hospital within the next 1-2 years. Additional programs in active development include an MIBG facility and a cell therapy laboratory capable of managing clinical products as well as providing capability for experimental cellular therapies. The successful individual will have oversight and problem-solving responsibilities related to overall Clinical Quality of Care within the Center and will supervise the Inpatient and the Outpatient Medical Directors. Areas of oversight responsibility include but are not limited to: - Ongoing monitoring and improvement of patient safety - New project guidance/ program development - Patient and staff workflow improvement - CPOE Development and oversight - Clinical practice and staffing expansion - Quality Committee - Infection Control management within the CCBD, in concert with hospital Infection Control - Management of CCBD partnerships within PCH (i.e., Palliative Medicine/PICU/ID/inpatient nursing/ etc.) - Provider Credentialing - Recruitment The incoming Associate Division Chief - Director of Clinical Operations will be a member of the Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona-College of Medicine Phoenix as well as the Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine at an academic rank commensurate with experience and prior academic achievements. About Our Program: The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s is a designated Center of Excellence at Phoenix Children’s, with two satellite locations in the Greater Phoenix Metro Area. Phoenix Children’s has a 12-bed CARF accredited inpatient Rehabilitation Unit, which opened in 2013 and is the only pediatric rehabilitation unit in Arizona. The physicians in the Division of PM&R are employed under Phoenix Children’s Medical Group and work collaboratively with others in neuroscience under the auspices of the Barrow Neurologic Institute for Children at PCH. This position would share coverage of the inpatient rehabilitation unit, the inpatient PM&R consult service, and both outpatient physiatry as well as multi-disciplinary clinics. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in program development, a broad base of clinical knowledge, and particular interest in botulinum toxin/ phenol injections. Posting Note: The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders (CCBD) at Phoenix Children’s Hospital (PCH) is seeking a pediatric hematologist/oncologist to serve as Section Chief of Pediatric Stem Cell Transplantation and Cell Therapy in Phoenix, Arizona. The section chief will also hold the Buzz and Janice Ghiz Family Foundation Endowed Chair in Bone Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy. We are looking for an experienced, transformational physician-scientist to lead and further grow one of the largest pediatric bone marrow/stem cell transplant (BMT) and cell therapy programs in the Southwest. The incoming chief will leverage extraordinary clinical and research opportunities in collaboration with our two academic and clinical partners, the University of Arizona College of Medicine and Mayo Clinic Arizona. The pediatric BMT/cell therapy program at PCH is one of the largest pediatric programs in the Southwestern US. We perform approximately 45-50 transplants annually, including autologous, related and unrelated allogeneic donor transplants. In addition, the program administers more than minimally manipulated cell therapies, including haploidentical stem cell transplants and CAR-T cell treatments. The program is jointly FACT accredited with the adult BMT program at Mayo Clinic Arizona and currently has five accredited pediatric BMT providers. Together with the adult providers at Mayo Clinic Arizona, our combined program has a total of 14 bone marrow transplant physicians taking care of one of the most vulnerable patient populations in hematology and oncology, and has been rated +1 (outperforming outcomes and survival) by CIBMTR for the last four consecutive years. The pediatric BMT/cell therapy program is a COG-approved transplant site, and actively participates in cooperative group trials through the PTCTC, the PIDTC and the Sickle Cell consortium, and offers several institutional investigator-initiated clinical trials. This position is an opportunity to lead one of the largest BMT and Cell Therapy programs in the Southwestern US. In addition, the section chief will have a unique opportunity to co-lead a state-of-the-art GMP-compliant cellular therapy facility that is under development, and pursue novel, innovative point-of-care cellular therapies. The successful candidate must have several years of experience in the clinical care of pediatric stem cell transplant patients, prior experience with academic leadership, we welcome applications from clinically focused candidates and those who have an active bench-to-bedside research program with a track record of obtaining external funding. Through the academic partnership with the University of Arizona-College of Medicine Phoenix, researchers have access to state-of-the art laboratory facilities and the wider Phoenix Biomedical Campus (including Arizona State University and TGen). The incoming chief will be a member of the Department of Child Health at the University of Arizona-College of Medicine Phoenix as well as Mayo Clinic Arizona, at the academic rank of Associate Professor or Professor. The PC Pain Service is an award winning, multi-disciplinary team with pain trained anesthesiologists, nurse practitioners, pain psychologists, nursing coordinators, physical therapists, and a research assistant. The NP/PA will provide evaluation and management of patients referred to the Pediatric Inpatient Pain Services and Pediatric Pain Clinic. The Pediatric Inpatient Pain Service provides consultation services for patients with complex pain and is actively involved in perioperative analgesia for pediatric patients. The NP/PA will work with the Pain Service attending physician to develop a care plan for patients. There are additional opportunities to help with education of nurses, nurse practitioner students, medical students, residents, and get involved with the development of pain management protocols. Our services include outpatient, inpatient and surgical care for the pediatric patient to include diagnostic and laboratory testing, imaging, and procedures. Our program serves as the main neurosurgery referral for a population of 7 million residents, of whom 1.5 million are in the pediatric age range. This Advance Practice Provider (APP) role in Neurosurgery will have responsibility for the evaluation and team-based care of pediatric neurosurgery patients to include but not be limited to outpatient evaluations, inpatient consultations, and daily care. This role also has on call responsibilities on nights, weekends, and holidays (estimate 4 days/nights of call / month). Inpatient duties include, but are not limited to, rounding on all inpatients, attending to the needs of daily care, daily EHR documentation, communication with consultants, answering questions from collaborating teams, bedside RNs, rehabilitation providers, pharmacy, coordinating operative care, patient discharge, facilitating appropriate follow up for patients, and coverage during the day, as well as on call responsibilities. Posting Note: Phoenix Children’s opened as a free-standing hospital in 2002 and in the past 20+ years has undergone tremendous growth. The ED at the main campus sees over 90,000 children a year and is the only free-standing level one pediatric trauma center in the state. Phoenix is located in Maricopa County and is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. With this growth we have continued to expand our division, our facilities and our training programs which includes fellowships in both Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Urgent Care. We are looking to expand our UC coverage and are looking for experienced APP’s (in addition to our physicians), looking to do solely Urgent Care or a hybrid of Urgent Care and low acuity ED shifts. We currently have 5 Urgent Care centers staffed 5p-midnight Monday through Friday and 10a to 8pm on weekends. Providers are responsible for evaluating and providing evidence-based treatment to pediatric patients within their scope of practice under the Medical Director’s supervision. This position maintains effective working relationships and rapport with patients/families, other physicians, employees, and volunteers. The Urgent Care sites have the ability to perform plain radiographs, and labs include urinalysis, blood sugars, rapid strep tests, and rapid flu in the winter months. We can send COVID but not rapid tests, at this point. In this role you will assess and treat acute injury and illness; perform procedural care including but not limited to abscess drainage, foreign body removal, and laceration repair with sutures, staples, and dermal adhesive and focus on efficiency metrics to improve urgent care flow, patient experience, and throughput. This is a growing and evolving team and job responsibilities/hours of coverage will change with growth of the APP team and is dependent on fluctuating resident coverage. Posting Note: The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s seeks a full time, board-certified or board-eligible pediatric hematologist/oncologist. The candidate will be joining our vibrant and growing division as an attending oncology hospitalist in the Section of Oncology Hospitalist Medicine. Our pediatric oncology hospitalists cover daytime and overnight hospitalist shifts and perform procedures for inpatients. Staff members are actively involved in clinical, research and educational projects. Primary daytime clinical responsibilities include overseeing medical management of patients admitted for chemotherapy administration alongside a comprehensive team consisting of advance practice providers, dietician, and a chemotherapy pharmacist. The hospitalist will also perform routine procedures, such as bone marrow aspirates, biopsies, and lumbar punctures. During overnight rotations, our hospitalist attendings care for all patients admitted to the inpatient services (hematology, oncology, chemotherapy, BMT), addressing all patient care questions and clinical concerns, including new admissions, transfers, and urgent consults. Our hospitalists oversee and staff pediatric residents for all admitted patients and new admissions. The hospitalist will be available for clinical instruction and discussion with resident and fellow trainees as well as inpatient nursing staff. The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders at Phoenix Children’s sees on average over 370 new oncology patients per year and has additional active clinical and laboratory research programs in oncology, neuro-oncology, survivorship, hemophilia, and phase I/phase II investigational drug development. Our ACGME approved fellowship program in pediatric hematology/oncology is approved for 3 fellows/year and has affiliations with the Mayo Clinic, the Arizona Cancer Center, and the University of Arizona. CCBD is a designated Center of Excellence at Phoenix Children’s, with two satellite locations, 24 attending physicians, 9 fellows, 15 advanced practice providers and large dedicated support staff including social workers, nutritionists, child life specialists, psychologist, and mental health therapists. Phoenix Children's is one of the largest free-standing pediatric hospitals in the nation with 457 licensed beds. The consultant collaborates daily with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, clinical leaders, and external partners. Responsibilities include monitoring RISE safety events, gathering and analyzing data, facilitating quality and safety meetings, and supporting the introduction of new clinical products and innovations. This position is not desk-bound and requires regular, proactive engagement with clinical teams and providers. RN experience is highly preferred as the clinical experience enhances the consultants ability to facilitate strong engagement and build professional relationships with the team. Given the complexity of the BMT program, the ideal candidate must be confident in navigating discussions with highly specialized professionals from a collaborative, peer-to-peer standpoint. Strong interpersonal skills, public speaking abilities, and a solution-oriented mindset are essential. We are looking for qualified ECMO Specialists who have completed a formal ECMO training course and have at least one year of experience as an ECMO Specialist. This is a PRN position for 12-hour day or night shifts, and could be an RN or RRT. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with ECMO therapy, critical care, and a passion for patient-centered care.
This position facilitates and administers respiratory care, including routine and complex procedures, using a wide variety of techniques and equipment.
