Position Summary
The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for communications with internal stakeholders (employees, providers, leaders, patients, volunteers, etc.) to support employee engagement and keep them informed of Phoenix Children’s developments. This involves designing messages, narratives, presentations and other communications that are resonant and compelling, delivering them to the intended audiences through the right channels, and receiving feedback all while keeping the specific communication purpose/goal in mind. The Internal Communications Manager uses their planning, writing and editing skills to create materials and organize events for the stakeholders of Phoenix Children’s and advise on content, timing and frequency of information to be communicated. For instance, they may generate content that informs employees about the objectives of the company and the measures it is taking to ensure its path of growth, or generate content that informs staff and providers about new services. This may be accomplished through publishing newsletters, e-mails, fliers, memos, etc.; updating digital boards or calendars of events; and managing other tools to produce print and digital copies of communication in a way that maintains a positive image for Phoenix Children’s. The Internal Communications Manager also ensures satisfaction among stakeholders by administering surveys and polls. The keys to effective communications at Phoenix Children’s are consistency and constancy. Excellent writing and interpersonal relationship skills are needed to be successful in this role. The Internal Communications Manager reports to the Communications Director.
Position Duties

Communications Planning
Develops and executes Integrated Communications Plans; Defines desired results and implements details of plans in line with agreed upon goals. -
Relationship Management
Builds and maintains relationships with internal and external stakeholders, senior leadership, and provider leadership to ensure that relevant communications flow smoothly for the organization. -
Project Management
Creates systems and leads the project management to oversee the workload, resources, internal/external teams to deliver on multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously, meeting deadlines, quality measures and budgets. -
Research and Strategy Development
Research and Strategy Development
Uses research to better understand stakeholders in order to develop strategies and tactics to communicate appropriately. Studies Phoenix Children’s strategic objectives and needs to build impactful and creative communications strategies that keep the organization and its stakeholders informed about Phoenix Children`s developments. -
Content Management
Develops compelling content to assist in designing messages that are resonant, timely and appropriate for the communication channel being used. -
Personnel Management
- Resolves conflicts or complaints from customers and employees.
- Contributes to and achieves team objectives.
- Generates reports and presents information to upper-level management.
- Ensures adherence to company policies and procedures. -
Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
