Position Summary

The Payroll Supervisor oversees daily payroll operations, leading staff to ensure accurate and timely compensation for all employees. This role partners with HR, Accounting, and IT to maintain compliance, resolve issues, and drive process improvements. The role fosters a collaborative team environment, provides training and performance feedback, and ensures departmental goals are met.

Position Duties

  • Payroll Operations & Staff Supervision
    • Supervises payroll staff and oversees biweekly payroll processing.
    • Manages off-cycle payments (e.g., bonuses, severance, reimbursements).
    • Serves as a point of contact for complex payroll inquiries.
    • Ensures accurate payroll auditing and reconciliation.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Oversight
    • Ensures compliance with wage laws, payroll tax regulations, and internal controls.
    • Oversees payroll tax filings and resolves issues with tax authorities.
    • Administers W-2 processing and 401(k) audit coordination.
    • Advises management on payroll liabilities and regulatory matters.
  • Process Improvement and System Administration
    • Leads payroll system implementations, upgrades, and integrations.
    • Identifies and implements process improvements and automation.
    • Trains staff on payroll systems and procedures.
    • Maintains confidentiality and data security protocols.
  • Financial Integration & Reporting
    • Ensures accurate payroll integration with the general ledger.
    • Supports month-end and year-end close activities.
    • Prepares payroll reports and assists with financial analysis.
    • Collaborates with accounting to resolve reconciliation issues.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

1. Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience with a large, multi-state, hospital payroll, with an ERP system such as Infor, Workday, or Oracle.

2. Five (5) years of experience with automated time and attendance system such as UKG or API.

3. Two (2) years of experience in a Payroll supervisory or administrator role.
Required
4. Five (5) years of experience with Payroll general ledger accounting.
Required
5. Five (5) years of experience with Payroll reporting.
Required
6. Five (5) years of experience with tax payments and filing.
