Position Summary
Posting Note: Phoenix Children’s is seeking a skilled and collaborative Magnet Program Manager to lead the organization’s journey toward ANCC Magnet® designation. This position provides guidance and coordination of all activities related to achieving and sustaining Magnet designation—advancing nursing excellence and professional practice across the system. The Magnet Program Manager will oversee the Magnet gap analysis, coordinate interdisciplinary teams, manage the application and document submission process, and promote nursing engagement through professional governance, education, and recognition initiatives. This leader partners closely with nursing leadership and the Chief Nursing Executive to align Magnet standards with organizational goals and outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the Magnet gap analysis and readiness plan
• Manage the Magnet application, documentation, and site visit process
• Coordinate Magnet Steering Committee and work teams
• Foster engagement in professional governance and nursing excellence initiatives
• Promote a culture of evidence-based practice, quality outcomes, and shared decision-making
The Magnet Program Manager supports the organization’s efforts to achieve and maintain American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) Magnet Recognition Program designation. This position is responsible for coordinating Magnet documentation, facilitating data collection, and assisting with activities that promote nursing excellence, professional development, and professional governance. The program manager collaborates with nursing leadership and interdisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with Magnet standards and fosters a culture of evidence-based practice and continuous improvement.
Position Duties

Magnet Documentation & Application Support
- Facilitates Magnet gap analysis and develops an organizational roadmap toward designation and re-designation.
- Coordinates and maintains Magnet sources of evidence and exemplars.
- Prepares and formats documents for Magnet submission and re-designation.
- Ensures accuracy, consistency, and alignment of all Magnet-related documentation.
- Supports scheduling and logistics for Magnet site visits and appraiser interactions. -
Data Collection & Reporting
- Gathers and validates nurse-sensitive indicators and other required Magnet data.
- Maintains a repository of professional practice projects and empirical outcomes.
- Collaborates with Quality, Finance, and Nursing Leadership to analyze empirical outcomes and demonstrate improvements.
- Prepares reports, graphs, and presentations for nursing leadership. -
Education & Staff Engagement
- Facilitates Magnet Steering Committee and sub-teams, ensuring timely progress toward goals.
- Provides education and consultation to staff and leaders about Magnet standards and requirements.
- Promotes participation in professional governance and professional development activities.
- Supports recognition events and initiatives celebrating nursing excellence. -
Collaboration & Communication
- Serves as liaison between nursing leadership, Magnet councils, and other departments.
- Coordinates and supports Magnet Steering Committee and related workgroups.
- Communicates updates and progress through newsletters, intranet, reports, and presentations.
- Represents nursing excellence initiatives on internal and external committees as assigned. -
Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
