Position Summary
This position plans and coordinates daily activities and projects of assigned staff, and oversees the 24/7 daily operations of the Phoenix Children’s Patient Transport Services department. In this leader role, the supervisor is responsible for operational flow and leading the team to ensure organizational and departmental goals, objectives, and standards are achieved while executing the strategic plans set by the organization. The supervisor collaborates with all levels within the organization to continually update and improve services to better meet the needs of our patients and families.
Position Duties

Supervises the Daily Operations of Patient Transport Services
- a. Supervises daily activities of the department or assigned areas; responsibilities include hiring, coaching, discipline, and creating development plans; oversees the day-to-day activities performed in the department, to plan and execute basic, ongoing, operational activities.
- b. Creates and organizes daily schedules and assignments for Patient Transport Services to match peak demand times to all service areas while keeping productivity and budget in mind; adjusts staffing levels as needed based on service demand and patient volume. Reports changes in volume to management; effectively maintains reports to show trends and to provide ongoing justification for staff and services.

Team Leadership and Development
- a. Actively seeks feedback from and interacts with patients, families, and all levels of organizational staff including management to accomplish departmental goals; works closely with patient care areas to coordinate efficient patient and materials transport services across multiple areas.
- b. Adheres to written policies and procedures and demands the same from assigned staff; serves as role model for assigned staff.
- c. Assists in new hire selection process by applying recruiting strategies to fill vacancies. Directly oversees department orientation, ongoing development, and evaluation of assigned employees.
- d. Works with manager to develop effective employee education, productivity metrics, evaluations and improvement plans.
- e. Demonstrates skills and abilities to provide leadership to Patient Transport staff in daily operations, ensuring compliance in standard operating procedures, expectation setting and oversight, performance coaching and disciplinary action.

Coordinates Daily Operations of Patient Transport Services
- a. Oversees the 24/7 patient transport department to include the dispatching of transport orders to meet service goals.
- b. Utilizes productivity metrics to evaluate the service and individual transporters. Flexes schedules and processes to meet the current patient needs.
- c. Collaborates to ensure consistency and quality of Patient Transport Services at all other PCH locations.
- d. Effectively manages and creates workflows surrounding the services to achieve desired outcomes.

Technical Knowledge
- a. Maintains knowledge and ability to assist in the department with dispatching and patient transport tasks.
- b. Works cooperatively and closely with technologists, nursing, and counterparts to maintain level of service regarding patient transportation.
- c. Initiates recommendations for equipment acquisition and/or arranges for repair of existing equipment as appropriate while maintaining budgetary discipline.
- d. Maintains and distributes patient care equipment per policy and procedures. Implements and maintains inventory of all patient transport equipment, including monitoring repair and replacement of all Patient Transport equipment, including wheelchairs, stretchers, uniforms, etc.
- e. Prepares operational and statistical reports as requested to identify areas of opportunity and assist in decision making process.
- Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
