Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Certified Lead Medical & Language Assistant to join our Dermatology team. This role provides both clinical medical assistant support and Spanish language interpretation services to ensure high-quality, culturally competent patient care. The ideal candidate will demonstrate leadership abilities, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to delivering exceptional patient experiences.
Required Qualifications:
Certifications
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association.
Medical Assistant Certification from one of the following:
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) through the American Association of Medical Assistants, or
Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) through American Medical Technologists.
Education
Completion of Spanish Bilingual Assistant training or equivalent training approved by PC Language Services.
Graduate of a Medical Assistant program accredited by one of the following:
Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)
Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES)
Other school approved by the Department of Education
Medical Assistant certification through AAMA or AMT may be accepted in lieu of graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
Experience
Minimum of two (2) years of Medical Assistant experience in a healthcare and/or pediatric healthcare setting.
Special Skills
Ability to provide accurate consecutive interpretation from English to Spanish and Spanish to English as spoken and understood by patients and families served by the hospital.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining patient confidentiality and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
Provide clinical support to dermatology providers, including patient intake, vital signs, documentation assistance, and patient education.
Serve as a lead resource for Medical Assistants within the department.
Facilitate effective communication between providers, patients, and families through Spanish-English interpretation services.
Assist with coordination of patient care, scheduling, referrals, and follow-up activities.
Ensure compliance with departmental, organizational, and regulatory standards.
Promote a positive patient experience through compassionate and culturally sensitive care.

This position acts as a working lead for the day-day operations of the designated clinic. The daily duties of this position include direction of work flow and patient care under a licensed health care professional. The position drives communication between clinical staff to ensure safety, quality, and overall process compliance including bilingual interpretation of patient care needs between patient, family, and health This position reports to the Manager, Ambulatory Business Operations. Additional direction is received from the Clinical Manager, Division Chief, RN's, PA's and/or Physician Leads as appropriate.
Position Duties

Provides floor leadership to assigned clinic(s) including appointment & schedule management, daily room oversight, daily staffing assignment, and compliance monitoring to ensure appropriate standards.

Serves as a resource to ensure proper on boarding & training of staff.
Specific duties include preceptor course completion, peer leadership training, service excellence & patient flow expectations, and use of tools for reporting (clinic timing, no-show, health information system and occurrence reporting). -
Continually monitors staff competency and scope of practice and reports observed concerns to clinical or operational manager as appropriate.
Includes monitoring of policies, procedures, and compliance of diagnostic test follow communication to patients. Performs quality audits as directed. Facilitates completion of occurrence reports when needed. -
Leads and facilitates daily huddles for effective and efficient clinical and service operations
Collaborates daily with other leads, Business Manager, Clinical Manager, RN's, NP's and Physicians as needed to ensure smooth, efficient flow for quality patient care. Daily reporting includes written &/or verbal documentation of concerns/suggestions to include patient data & staffing concerns, through-put issues/suggestions, and supply/equipment inventory/issues to Manager as appropriate. -
Works alongside peers with responsibilities in addition to existing patient care role.
This position is a working lead that has the ability to work as a Medical Assistant as needed. -
Performs bilingual interpretation of patient care needs between patient, family, and health care team members to ensure understanding of needs, issues, and or concerns.
Maintains accurate and timely documentation of interpreter activities. -
Communicates effectively to families and co-workers while demonstrating a caring attitude.
Initiates first-line service recovery when appropriate. -
Participates in conferences and meetings for educational growth. Represents the department as a leader (first adopter) on organizational initiatives. Participates in Language Services Department-sponsored educational programs to maintain skills and competencies.
