Position Summary

The Supervisor of Anesthesia Technicians is responsible for the coordination, oversight, and daily support of the team within the perioperative environment. This role serves as a key liaison between the anesthesia technician staff, anesthesia providers, and the Perioperative Medical Director to ensure efficient operations, high-quality patient care, and readiness of anesthesia equipment and supplies. The Supervisor combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities, including staff onboarding, education, scheduling, and administrative coordination. This position also supports daily operations by providing hands-on technical assistance during high-volume periods and ensuring that anesthesia equipment and supplies are maintained and readily available.

Position Duties

  • Team Leadership and Oversight
    • Provides leadership, guidance, and daily oversight for the Anesthesia Technician team.
    • Fosters a collaborative, professional environment that supports patient safety and operational efficiency.
    • Serves as the primary liaison between Anesthesia Technicians, Anesthesia Providers, and the Perioperative Medical Director.
    • Promotes adherence to departmental policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Staff Training and Education
    • Coordinates onboarding and orientation for new Anesthesia Technicians.
    • Precepts and mentors staff to ensure competency in technical and clinical support functions.
    • Provides ongoing education and skills development to maintain best practices and compliance with standards.
    • Identifies educational needs and coordinates training opportunities.
  • Scheduling and Administrative Management
    • Develops and manages staff schedules and call schedules to ensure appropriate coverage.
    • Supports staffing adjustments based on case volume and operational needs.
    • Assists with timekeeping oversight and administrative documentation as required.
  • Operational Support
    • Flexes into daily operations to provide technical support during high-volume or complex procedural periods.
    • Assists Anesthesia Providers with preparation of anesthesia equipment, supplies, and monitoring systems.
    • Ensures anesthesia workstations and equipment are prepared, maintained, and functioning properly.
  • Supply and Equipment Coordination
    • Coordinates the management of anesthesia-related supplies and equipment.
    • Ensures proper stocking, organization, and availability of necessary materials for procedures.
    • Collaborates with Biomedical Engineering and Supply Chain teams to address equipment maintenance, repair, and procurement.
  • Collaboration with Anesthesia Partners
    • Works directly with Anesthesia Providers to support clinical workflow and operational needs.
    • Participates in process improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, safety, and patient care.
    • Communicates operational issues, staffing needs, and workflow improvements to perioperative leadership.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
