Position Summary
The Clinical Specialist serves as a leader in clinical expertise, program development, and staff education within the Sports Physical Therapy department. This role serves as the Sports PT Residency program leader, overseeing the design, implementation, and operations of the Residency program. This role is also responsible for overseeing the student clinical affiliation program, the mentorship program for new-hires, and developing educational initiatives for staff. Provides direct patient care, serves as a mentor, and advances the program’s clinical, academic, and research missions.
Position Duties

Direct Patient Care in Sports Rehabilitation
Provides direct patient care in accordance with departmental standards, emphasizing evidence-based care in sports rehabilitation. Evaluates and treats patients with a wide range of injuries and sports/orthopedic diagnoses. Possesses skills to apply age and sport appropriate principles to all aspects of care. Maintains appropriate, compliant, and timely documentation. Maintains productivity expectations and high standards for clinical quality, documentation, and patient outcomes. Serves as a clinical resource for staff. -
Programmatic Leader for the Sports Physical Therapy Residency Program
Serve as the programmatic leader for the Sports Physical Therapy Residency, overseeing all aspects of program development, operations, and maintenance of ABPTFRE accreditation standards. This includes curriculum design and delivery, managing resident recruitment and evaluation, supporting clinical mentors, and ensuring a high-quality educational experience. Monitor program outcomes, facilitate continuous improvement initiatives, and serve as the liaison between the residency, Sports Medicine, and leadership. -
Clinical Specialist Resource
The Clinical Specialist serves as a clinical expert and resource to the Sports Physical Therapy team, providing advanced knowledge in evidence-based practice, complex case management, and clinical decision-making. This role supports staff development through mentorship, case consultation, and in-service education, fostering a culture of clinical excellence. Enhances staff development through the establishment of professional development initiatives and programmatic goals. Coordinates in-services for staff meetings and other events. Completes competencies for staff and oversees mentorship program. -
Mentorship and Oversee Student Clinical Affiliation Program
Oversees the student clinical affiliation program. Coordinates with academic partners and serves as mentor to Clinical Instructors. -
Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
