Posting Note: Ambulatory Student Nurse Intern Program:
This program is designed to provide nursing students with an interest in pediatrics an opportunity to advance their clinical and critical thinking skills within the ambulatory care settings as part of the multidisciplinary team. The ambulatory care setting is a network of numerous clinics and day treatment centers that provide specialty care to patients outside of the hospital. These clinics are open Monday-Friday during the day.
This program will have students work 32-40 hours per week (Monday - Friday) in the Summer Intensive Program that lasts 10 weeks (June 1st - August 7th). Most worked time will be 10 hours shifts, following a dedicated schedule. You must be able to start on June 1st in order to be considered.
Qualifications for the Summer Intensive Program:
• Be currently enrolled, in good standing, from an accredited BSN school of nursing
• Students obtaining their Associates of Applied Science with concurrent BSN program will also be considered
• Have completed two semesters of clinical rotations in the nursing program
• Validate 3.25 GPA with unofficial school transcript
• Have a strong interest in working with the pediatric population and learning about the role of the RN in an ambulatory setting
• Be able to work the expectations of the program, including working five days a week
• Be able to complete mandatory orientation classes as scheduled (no exceptions)
• Have a current BLS for Healthcare Providers Card from the AHA
• Maintaining passing grades equivalent to a “C” or higher in all enrolled Nursing courses
• If a current Phoenix Children’s employee, must be in good standing
• If a previous Phoenix Children’s employee, must be eligible for rehire
This position, in collaboration with the healthcare team, patient and family, coordinates and promotes patient health utilizing evidence-based practice through supervision of delivery of professional nursing care with a clinical nurse across the care continuum. This position advocates for the patient and family adhering to nursing and medical plans of care, regulatory standards, and organizational values. Applications of specific skills are limited to those in which the Intern has received didactic instruction and demonstrates clinical competency.
