The Supervisor, ED Patient Access works under the direction of the Manager and is responsible for the oversight of 24/7 activities of the Emergency Department Registration function. This position maintains appropriate staffing levels based on historical volume analysis and clinical needs, monitors daily productivity and registration quality, reallocates duties, as needed, to assure timely completion of registrations and admissions, and works with the clinical ED staff and leadership to ensure smooth patient flow and throughput.
Posting Note: This position will train out of the Phoenix Children's Main campus in Phoenix until new facility is completed at Mercy-Gilbert in Gilbert, AZ. The schedule for this role is Monday - Friday from 9:00am - 5:30pm.
This position guides and trains the Family Financial Counselors in working with patient families to educate them on insurance benefits, payment options and out of pocket amounts due, assisting them in obtaining 3rd party coverage through government and commercial avenues and walking them through the PCH financial assistance and premium assistance programs when applicable. The Lead Financial Counselor thinks creatively about coverage options in a changing healthcare environment and provides a customer service friendly approach that is coordinated with with the patient's care team in order to ensure that the family has a full understanding of liability, coverage and coverage options, and payment options.

The Pre Access Specialist II is responsible for accurate and complete insurance verification, authorization, and complete pre-registration of all scheduled Diagnostic, Surgical, Audiology and/or Rehabilitation visits. The position works within the EMR using an automated insurance verification tool along with payer websites and documents within the EMR.
The Pre Access Specialist III is responsible for accurate and complete insurance verification, authorization, and complete pre-registration when applicable of one or more of the following: Medication authorizations, Genomics Testing, and all scheduled infusions. The position works within the EMR using an automated insurance verification tool along with payer websites and documents within the EMR. This position also works closely with the pharmacy and clinical team to ensure that high dollar drugs are authorized.

The Training Coordinator is responsible for the delivery of functional training for Hospital and Professional Patient Access and/or Scheduling Services, including registration in all settings, verification and authorization of insurances, and financial clearance and counseling functions. Additionally, this position develops and deploys training based on feedback from Patient Access leadership, changes in payer or regulatory requirements, and/or as a result of reports or audits that show opportunities for improved task performance.
