Posting Note: The Child Protection Team Medical Assistant will work with children that have been suspected of abuse and/or neglect. Many of these children bring with them a complexity of issues, both physically and emotionally, at a trauma stage level. You will work closely with outside agencies that partner with Phoenix Children’s (DCS, Law Enforcement, Maricopa County, FBI, etc.) to ensure that the child is provided the necessary care. You will assist the provider with performing a medical exam in both the inpatient and outpatient setting, assist with gathering forensic evidence, perform point of care testing, venipuncture and other duties as needed. Your clerical and verbal skills will be needed to assist with patient registration and scheduling appointments.
Schedule: M-F 8:00-5:00 and On-call hours 5:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M. On Call hours are One day/week and one weekend/month 8:00 a.m. -10:00 P.M. You will be compensated while on call and paid at time and a half for any callbacks.
Location: 2120 North Central Avenue, Phoenix AZ with travel to Main Campus, Glendale, Avondale, Gilbert, Mesa and Goodyear as needed
Requirements: Fingerprint clearance card, Medical Assistant Diploma, and an RMA (AMT) or CMA (AAMA) certification
Compassion and empathy to work with this patient population and excellent verbal, written, and PC skills are needed. Previous experience working with child neglect/abuse is preferred but not required. Willing to train the right person.

This position requires current and continuous certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA) or American Medical Technologists (RMA) in the field of Medical Assisting.
