This is a patient/customer service-oriented position which is responsible for timely and accurate patient scheduling, specimen collection, and ordering to ensure timely and accurate results. The position requires knowledge and experience with venipuncture techniques to successfully acquire blood with minimal adverse impact to pediatric patients. Medical Lab Scientist I New!

The Medical Laboratory Scientist I performs and interprets standard, complex and specialized laboratory tests. The MLS I has an understanding of the underlying scientific principles of laboratory testing as well as the technical, procedural, and problem-solving aspects. The MLS I correlates abnormal laboratory data with pathologic states, determines validity of test results and need for additional investigation. The MLS I has an understanding of quality control programs, and evaluates computer-generated data and troubleshoots problems. The MLS I is able to participate in the introduction, investigation and implementation of new procedures and in the evaluation of new instruments. The MLS I understands and enforces regulatory requirements and safety regulations. This position receives supervision of completed work activities from the supervisor. The MLS I may perform regulatory/compliance duties that require high level of technical knowledge and skills under supervision of certified personnel. This position is temporary and shall be occupied for 18 months maximum. To remain employed by Phoenix Children's past the initial 18 months, the incumbent shall have obtained a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLS) ASCP Certification or equivalent as determined by laboratory leadership. Once obtained, the incumbent will be moved to the MLS II role.

Posting Note: We’re looking for a candidate who’s a Medical Lab Scientist with Core Lab (Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis) experience. This is a part time night shift position. The hours will be 1700-0530 and the days will vary and will include rotating weekends and holidays. Previous experience with Abbott Alinity and Sysmex systems is a plus.

Posting Note: Phoenix Children’s is recruiting for an experienced Medical Lab Scientist to join our Microbiology team at the Thomas Campus lab, located in downtown Phoenix. This is a full-time dayshift position with hours being 5:00am – 3:30pm, 4 days a week, with rotating weekends. Previous Microbiology experience is required, experience with bacteriology and susceptibility testing is preferred.
