Lab Technical Specialist - Microbiology New!

Posting Note: This is an onsite full time, salaried position. This position works closely with Microbiology Section Director and laboratory leaders to ensure efficient technical operations, exceptional service, and full compliance with regulatory bodies. Duties include assay verification/validation, policy/procedure review, quality assurance, equipment maintenance, compliance/accreditation, training/competency assessments, and inventory management. Phoenix Children's has a great work culture and is growing! We are looking for an individual who is willing to lead and inspire in one of the largest children’s hospitals in the country. Minimum requirements • Bachelor’s degree in medical laboratory science, microbiology, or related field of study. • Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) or Technologist in Microbiology (M) ASCP certification or equivalent. • Specialist in Microbiology (SM) or eligible to obtain within one year of employment preferred. • A minimum of 4 years of experience working in clinical microbiology laboratory. • Knowledge of conventional microbiology, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, infectious disease serology, and molecular diagnostics is highly preferred.
This position works collaboratively with Section Supervisors, Section Directors, Managers, and leadership team to provide technical supervision to ensure high quality daily technical operations of responsible sections across all locations in the healthcare system. Responsible to achieve and comply with established operating budget, quality control, inventory management and regulatory standards. This position receives supervision of completed work activities from the Laboratory Administrative Director.

Medical Lab Scientist - Molecular Technologist

Posting Note: This is a part-time evening shift (30 hours per week) in our Microbiology Department. Hours are from 2:00pm – 12:30am, with rotating shifts during the week, and potential of a weekend rotation. Previous Microbiology experience is required, and high-complexity viral load molecular testing is preferred.
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II performs and interprets standard, complex and specialized laboratory tests. The MLS II has an understanding of the underlying scientific principles of laboratory testing as well as the technical, procedural, and problem-solving aspects. The MLS II correlates abnormal laboratory data with pathologic states, determines validity of test results and need for additional investigation. The MLS II has an understanding of quality control programs, and evaluates computer-generated data and troubleshoots problems. The MLS II is able to participate in the introduction, investigation and implementation of new procedures and in the evaluation of new instruments. The MLS II understands and enforces regulatory requirements and safety regulations. This position receives supervision of completed work activities from the supervisor.

Posting Note: This is a full-time Generalist role within our Avondale Emergency Department Laboratory. The schedule is night shift, 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., with variable weekdays and a rotating weekend requirement.
