Coder II, Ambulatory

This position assigns, per coding guidelines, the current version of ICD diagnosis and procedure codes and CPT-4 procedure codes for Observation, Same Day Surgery, Emergency Department, Urgent Care and/or Ancillary medical records. Completes coding for all accounts on a timely basis within the four day bill hold time frame. Follows up on all accounts needing coding queries or documentation completion by clinicians or medical staff. Release of Info Specialist

Posting Note: This position requires strong customer service and multitasking skills as the support liaison for families using the patient portal. This position is responsible for educating, coaching, and engaging patients and families on the use and benefits of the patient portal while maintaining the confidentiality of the patient’s PHI. The Liaison will be responsible for internal and external department education of the patient portal. The Specialist is fully aware of HIM and release of information regulations and policies to ensure HIPAA compliant decisions regarding who has access to the patient portal. The Liaison is knowledgeable of technical issues that families could face and independently makes decisions to assist the family or intervene with our IT department to resolve family portal issues. There are significant multitasking functions occurring simultaneously including using four systems simultaneously (Portal, Excel, JIRA, EHR), sending invites and removing access to the portal, answering telephones, voicemails, emails, and daily auditing. The Liaison responds to any inquiries from phone calls, Inboxes and Walk-Ins with a professional and supportive attitude. A significant portion of the position requires daily auditing to ensure that patient records have the appropriate documentation, identify the correct LAR, and as well as ensure accurate access to the records of patients over the age of thirteen.

This mid-level position reports to the Release of Information Supervisor, and is responsible for processing all Release of Information (ROI) requests, in compliance with organization policies, HIPAA and State regulations to ensure the highest quality of patient care is provided while maintaining the confidentiality of our patients protected health information. In addition to these responsibilities, the ROI Specialist responds to any inquiries coming from phone calls, inbox, or FMH Patient Portal dashboard queue. Ensures that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's health information and that all releases of information are in compliance with the request.

Supervisor, Coding Hospital-Based

This position supervises the daily activities of the hospital based coding staff and oversees the daily workflow to ensure that PCH maintains the highest quality for accurate and compliant coding. This position will oversee and assist with all of the internal and external coding reviews conducted throughout the year. This position will report directly to the Coding and Compliance Manager. This position will ensure that all coding staff are following the established coding guidelines and are compliant with regulatory standards. Collaborates with management to provide relevant education and ideas to develop comprehensive policies and procedures, compliance training, and reduce bill edits.
