Position Summary
This position develops, implements, and evaluates educational plans and programs to address the needs of the Trauma Program, ensuring ongoing enhancement and improvement of staff skills, competencies, and professional growth in accordance with established standards, requirements, and regulations. The Trauma Education Specialist focuses on both internal and external educational efforts, including outreach education for EMS, referring hospitals, and local conferences.
Position Duties

Educational Programs:
- Develops and conducts trauma nurse basic and advanced training.
- Organizes and leads trauma courses for nurses (e.g., TNCC, ATCN, PTACC, pITLS) and physicians (e.g., ATLS, ITLS, TEAM).
- Coordinates regular simulations at each campus and performance improvement-based focused training.
- Plans and executes TraumaCon and the Child Maltreatment Symposium.
- Provides trauma training for EMS agencies and rural trauma teams. -
Collaboration:
- Collaborates with colleagues within the Trauma Program to support the departmental strategic plan and institutional growth.
- Works with other disciplines and departments as a change agent and participates in the evaluation of outcomes. -
Professional Development:
- Engages in organizational endeavors supporting the philosophy and values of Phoenix Children's and the professional development of staff.
- Participates in knowledge dissemination through presentations, publications, and other scholarly exchanges.
- Plans, implements, and evaluates learning opportunities based on evidence using a variety of teaching strategies.
- Role-models, mentors, and promotes professional growth within the department, hospital-wide, and within the community.
- Supports others in evidence-based practice and research projects. -
Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
