Position Summary
Posting Note: Seeking a part-time Nursing Services Scheduler to support staffing needs across multiple units. In this job-share role, you will work three days per week from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with coverage every other weekend and rotating holidays. Responsibilities include creating and managing daily schedules, assisting with short-term staffing projects, and collaborating closely with nurse leaders to ensure accurate and timely scheduling. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, while providing seamless handoffs with your job-share counterpart. Ideal candidates will have hospital or healthcare staffing scheduling experience, excellent communication skills, and proficiency with Kronos or UKG scheduling systems. Flexibility, reliability, and the ability to manage priorities across multiple leaders are essential to success in this role.
The Staffing Scheduler – Nursing Services works collaboratively and effectively with Department Leadership, Centralized Staffing Office, and House Supervisors to ensure availability of adequate staffing with consideration for experience and skill to meet patient care needs.
Position Duties

Schedule Creation and Balancing
a. Communicates deadlines in the scheduling process to Nursing Leaders.
b. Approves paid time off at the direction of Nursing Leaders.
c. Prepares unit-based schedules for self-scheduling through the use of established templates, targets, and rotations in alignment with Staffing Scheduling Guidelines.
d. Reviews schedule variances to identify opportunities for schedule balancing and prior to collaborating on finalizing schedules with Nursing Leaders to ensure schedules are optimized as time of posting.
e. Posts finalized schedules based on established timelines. -
Schedule Review and Maintenance
a. Reviews schedule variances to identify extra shift needs.
b. Codes extra shifts for applicable incentives, as appropriate.
c. Performs schedule audits at regular intervals to determine variances to established targets and communicates findings with Nursing Leadership. -
Trends schedule data to support operational decisions.
a. Evaluates scheduling compliance of established scheduling guidelines, notifying direct leaders of trends.
b. Proactively identifies opportunities for improvement and proposes innovated solutions and alternatives.
c. Collects and analyzes system data related to schedules to support operational decisions. -
Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
