Position Summary

This position will manage the operation of satellite outpatient rehabilitation services and inpatient rehabilitation services at designated sites, which include physical therapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy. Administrative responsibilities include assurance of proper functioning of the department through leadership, management, and development of outpatient and inpatient therapy services and programs at the satellites. Responsible for overseeing and implementing existing and new programs and the development of clinical supervisors along with overseeing the referral management system for both inpatient and outpatient services. This position must demonstrate a commitment to providing high quality patient care and service through positive leadership and total quality management. This role reports directly to the Director of Rehabilitation and will assist the Director with the ongoing fiscal management, compliance of daily operations, and state and federal practice guidelines. This position will assist the Director with the strategic growth of inpatient and outpatient programs.

Position Duties

  • Actively leads daily inpatient acute and outpatient satellite rehabilitation service operations and maintains departmental operational, compliance and quality programs related to patient care, equipment, staffing, and billing
    a. Maintains incident reports.
    b. Ensures department is compliant with all regulatory, federal and state, and CMS and hospital requirements.
    c. Supports and assures documentation is timely and accurate.
    d. Timely evaluations and consults according to hospital, state, and federal policy.
    e. Manages and facilitates new programming and MDC clinics.
  • Responsible for overall human resource management of their direct reports including hiring, training, evaluating, disciplining, and recommending termination.
    a. Is responsible for facilitating the proper orientation, training and development of all personnel in the department.
    b. Follows hospital and PCH policies and procedures.
  • Provides clinical leadership and management of the outpatient rehab department/program.
    a. Supports the needs of PCMG referrals and establishes specialty programs.
    b. Monitors referrals for appropriate plan of care including duration and visits.
    c. Continuously develops programs to provide state of the art pediatric therapy services.
  • Establishes and maintains positive and professional relationships with medical and hospital staff, peers, and supervisors.
    a. Demonstrates a positive attitude and encourages a positive attitude in employees.
    b. Follows hospital, PCH and state policy and procedures.
    c. Makes effective use of time.
    d. Fosters, develops, and maintains relationships with key providers and stakeholders.
  • Fiscal accountability for rehabilitation services.
    a. Is responsible for the effective and efficient use of departmental personnel, including flexing of staff between service lines as indicated.
    b. Is responsible for departmental productivity standards.
    c. Consistently operates within the departmental budget.
    d. Oversees waiting list and makes sure templates are filled.
    e. Assists with strategic planning, development, and growth of rehab programming, development, and positive revenue generation.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.

Position Qualifications

1. Bachelor’s degree or higher in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy or Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology from an accredited university.

1. Five years of relevant clinical experience or equivalent.

1. Current State of Arizona License in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology with current ASHA certification by start date.

2. Current BLS certification for Health care Provider from the American Heart Association by start date.

3. Current Specialty Certification in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech Language Pathology.
