Position Summary

The Human Resources Generalist coordinates and administers all aspects of employee leaves to ensure compliance with company policies, federal and state leave regulations, while providing instruction, guidance and excellent customer service to employees, managers and human resources professionals. Provides leadership and direction to organizational areas on human resource/workforce issues that have a substantial impact on business objectives. Works closely with leaders to identify projects/partnership opportunities to build and sustain a high performing culture. Serves as a subject matter expert on policies, procedures, employment law and fundamental core areas of human resources.

Position Duties

  • Coordinates and administers all company leaves of absence, including FMLA, personal leave, military leave, jury duty, bereavement leave, etc. Serves as the primary point of contact for and manage all leave inquiries, educating employees and managers on the leave process and related policies. Processes intake of leave requests, sends required notices, forms and letters, and determines leave eligibility. Ensures federal and state compliance of all leaves, including certification of FMLA leaves.
  • Creates and maintains complete and accurate leave files. Tracks leave time and timecard management, works with employees and managers to ensure proper timekeeping, including timecard audits. Develops, generates and presents reports on a regular basis to analyze leave data and trends.
  • Communicates with employees, managers and human resources professionals to coordinate the return to work process, including accommodation requests and leave expirations. Consults with benefits department, as needed, to coordinate changes to benefits as a result of employee’s leave.
  • Works closely with leaders on workforce relations issues of low to high complexity. Assists leaders with assessment of individual and team performance improvement needs and the development of associated action plans. Provides expert human resources consulting services for executives, business unit leaders and employees to implement strategic initiatives and achieve organizational goals.
  • Serves as project and/or program lead, developing work plans, and providing the required level of direction and support for successful completion of projects.
  • Maintains a robust understanding of the day-to-day operations of the assigned business units. Provides coaching to leadership on HR matters as they relate to people and business objectives. Identifies and utilizes appropriate experts/resources within and outside of HR when needed.
  • Develops and delivers progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation and presentations.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
