Position Summary

This position is responsible for the daily operation of the Radiologist Reading Room within the Radiology department. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: triage inbound calls to the Radiologists, place outbound calls on behalf of the Radiologists, patient study image sharing (inbound and outbound), manage email correspondence and documentation, maintain and update daily On Call lists for Radiologists, facilitate requests for changes to orders received from the Radiologist back to original ordering provider or the scheduling department.

Position Duties

  1. Triage`s phone calls made to the Radiologist Reading Room which includes answering questions, redirecting calls to clinicians, and/or escalating customer issues to the appropriate leader. Coordinates doctor to doctor calls by contacting providers on behalf of the Radiologist.
  2. Updates departmental On Call lists for Radiology department staff on a daily basis, publishes and communicates out to department. Coordinates the scheduling and assignment of Rotating Residents with the attending radiologists by interfacing with the medical education program administrator.
  3. Facilitates order protocolling which includes taking information from the technologists regarding orders that may need to be changed and contacts the correct radiologist to determine if the order needs correction. Communicates with the technologists regarding order changes made by the radiologist.
  4. Supports administrative and healthcare staff to provide order fulfillment. Processes order changes as directed by the Radiologists which may include, but is not limited to, contacting original ordering provider office and/or sending Secure Health Message (SHM) to request a new order.
  5. Coordinates and creates Second Opinion Read orders for the Emergency Department (ED) and all other departments, which includes processing outside study image uploads via PowerShare, use of Allscripts SCM, and working in Philips PACS. Performs digital research study image uploads or sends study images outbound to other facilities again via PowerShare.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
