Position Summary

The Senior Bioinformatics Scientist advances clinical diagnosis and treatment by designing, implementing, and optimizing bioinformatics tools, workflows, and data analysis methods to ensure the accuracy and clinical relevance of genomic analyses. This role focuses on supporting clinical genomic applications and addressing complex computational challenges to improve genomic data interpretation and diagnostic capabilities. The incumbent works independently on high-impact projects, leads technical discussions, and provides mentorship and expertise to the bioinformatics team.

Position Duties

  • Maintain and enhance the established NGS pipeline modules and work flow for clinical genomic applications
  • Lead the planning and execution of bioinformatics projects
  • Develop and maintain in-house web applications for clinical genomic service
  • Develop and maintain the databases
  • Closely work with Section Director of Clinical Genomics and clinical genomics team to enhance the efficiency of clinical genomics testing work flow
  • Write and maintain bioinformatics standard operating procedures
  • Perform oversight of bioinformatics scientists and mentor junior bioinformatics staff
  • Perform clinical genomics data analysis according to validation methods
  • Keep up to date with latest developments in NGS applications in clinical diagnostics
  • Perform troubleshooting on data processing and analysis tasks
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
