Position Summary

Posting Note: Responsible for: Journal entries, variance analysis, fixed assets, lease accounting, trending analysis, balance sheet reconciliation, financial statement prep, tax returns, act as the audit team liaison and other general accounting responsibilities. Will superivise a team of 7 people. This is a hybrid position.

Responsible for oversight of the accounting and financial reporting function as well as accounting personnel. In conjunction with the Accounting Manager, Grants, Research & Foundation, responsible for all general ledger activity and financial reporting for PCH and subsidiaries.

Position Duties

  1. Provides leadership, direction and training to accounting team.
  2. Reviews and approves documentation prepared by accounting team for monthly financial statement preparation (i.e. journal entries, account reconciliations, etc.).
  3. Leads responsibility for assigning and reviewing ongoing General ledger reconciliations as a critical element of internal control.
  4. Directly oversees and is responsible for compliance with PCH policies and procedures as they relate to accounting and financial reporting.
  5. Manages preparation for external audits and tax returns.
  6. Maintains a strong focus on process improvement opportunities and leads projects to increase the efficiency and/or effectiveness of the department.
  7. Compares actual financial performance to annual budget by analyzing budget variances and recommending corrective action.
  8. Researches technical issues and proper accounting treatment for major transactions.
  9. Makes recommendations to the Director or Controller for new policies and procedures and identify areas to improve efficiency and effectiveness of department.
  10. Works closely with the Director on optimization of ERP and GL system to drive efficient and effective processes in addition to timely and accurate period close and financial reporting.
  11. Manages preparation of external reports as required by governmental or other third party agencies, including but not limited to the Uniform Accounting Report, and various surveys conducted by external organizations.
  12. Assists in developing the annual capital and operating budget as well as preparation for the long range forecast.
  13. Frequently responds to requests from senior leadership or physician leadership for special reports assembling and/or analyzing accounting or statistical data.
  14. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
