Position Summary

Posting Note: Phoenix Children's Pediatrics (PCP) is looking for a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join their exceptional team. This is a full-time position specifically designed to support short- and long-term gaps in coverage. This provider could potentially work at any of the 11 offices where there is a need, so must be willing to travel and quickly integrate into a new location. For short term durations, provider would typically see same day/next day sicks. However, in a situation where longer coverage is expected, would see well checks and chronic conditions in addition to more acute issues. Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics is a Primary Care division solely focused on providing pediatric-only primary care service in a community setting. This includes comprehensive pediatric care from birth to 21 years, immunizations, well-child visits, sports physicals, behavioral health services, lactation and more. Phoenix Children’s Pediatrics is pro-vaccination and supports the immunization schedule as outlined by the American Association of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Center for Disease Control (CDC). The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner promotes patient health through delivery of professional expanded nursing care appropriate to patients age and condition as documented in the nursing and medical plans of care in accordance with nursing/patient care practice standards and hospital goals, values and standards.

Position Duties

  1. As primary advanced nursing care provider, delegates activities appropriately and provides timely feedback and review of care delivery to ensure maintenance of patient safety, infection control procedures, therapeutic environment, and team members' performance level, maintaining confidentiality as appropriate.
  2. Conducts comprehensive or episodic health assessments of clinic specific diagnoses. Assessments include medical status, psychosocial status, cognitive status, personal assets, and limitations to learning.
  3. Continually evaluates patients' response to care, teaching and discharge plan. Documents patient progress in appropriate charts and shares observations and assessment outcomes with health care team and family to ensure timely communication and understanding of patient health status, progress, and ongoing needs.
  4. Establishes systems and processes to promote and improve operational efficiencies for the pediatric subspecialty clinic.
  5. Maintains professional and technical competency through regular participation in a variety of educational programs and in-services, reviewing relevant professional publication and materials, and participating in professional societies to ensure ongoing understanding of most current methodologies, practices, and philosophies as applied to patient care population.
  6. Works collaboratively with patient care team and family members to establish and implement plan of care to ensure coordination of activities and ongoing communication of patient health status. Participates in patient care rounds and patient care conferences as appropriate.
  7. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
