Posting Note: We are recruiting for a Biorepository Lab Supervisor to join our team at the Thomas Main Lab located near downtown Phoenix. A $5000 sign on bonus is offered. This position is a salaried 1.0 FTE, Monday-Friday, and will encompass administrative tasks as well as technical bench work as needed. Biorepository experience is preferred. The Biorepository section plays a vital role in managing samples for innovative research across the health system.

This position provides general supervision for assigned staff to ensure daily technical operations achieve and comply with established operating budget, quality control, inventory management and regulatory standards. This position receives managerial review of completed work activities from the Laboratory Manager. This position supervises Laboratory staff.

1. Develops and maintains policies and guidelines; employs policies and procedures, regulatory guidelines, and professional standards to validate current practice requirements and support of overall organizational values and mission
2. Ensures adherence to departmental operating and capital budgets, drafts research study operating budgets and creates study specific invoices.
3. Maintains professional and technical competency through constantly pursuing knowledge and self-improvement and remaining apprised of current trends, developments and awareness of latest technology and practices to improve outcomes.
4. Participates in hospital and department operational and quality improvement initiatives; proactively evaluates systems, practices, and assists create and implement changes to increase and enhance the effectiveness of the operations. Also, participates in organizational committees as pertinent.
5. Performs patient research testing, quality control testing, and instrument maintenance procedures to ensure ongoing compliance with policies, regulations, and safety guidelines for safe work practices.
6. Supervises daily technical operations of laboratory section by monitoring quality and effectiveness of workflow, problem resolution and troubleshooting issues, and/or processes to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with all regulatory and licensing requirements. Provides Around the clock on call availability for off-site temperature monitoring and troubleshooting for clinical and research Biospecimens.
7. Supervises work activities of assigned staff to ensure achievement of established goals, objectives, and outcomes; provides guidance, mentoring, and direction as appropriate for ongoing staff development.
8. Creates database entry forms, completes updates and maintains Biorepository LIMS.
9. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
