Position Summary

Under the direction of the VP of Quality and Risk Management, and working collaboratively with nursing and medical staff leaders, this position provides vision, initiative, and skill to lead, influence and address matters related to Quality, Patient Safety, Risk Management and Accreditation/Regulatory within PCH, ambulatory clinics and surgery center. This leadership position possesses an array of expertise and experience in quality improvement methodologies, patient safety strategies, high-reliability processes, risk assessment and response, and regulatory/accreditation matters. This quality leader provides strategic support, direction, and leadership by effectively communicating and collaborating with a variety of disciplines and staff. Scope of work includes providing oversight, triage assessment, leadership and direction for quality improvement, patient safety, and regulatory matters. Director will collaborate and work with leadership in System Office related to Quality/Safety, Risk, and Regulatory/Accreditation. Able to tie strategic initiatives into System Quality Program impacting outcomes and supporting continuous improvement and risk prevention/mitigation initiatives.

Position Duties

  1. In collaboration with System Leadership and East Valley Associate Chief Nursing Officer (ACNO), leads the administrative and operational oversight of Phoenix Children`s EV/WC Pavilion quality, risk, regulatory/accreditation programs, including quality outcomes, patient safety, risk management and regulatory management operations.
  2. Partners and collaborates with key internal and external stakeholders to improve clinical outcomes, manage interdisciplinary communication, and effectively triage/address patient safety, risk and regulatory matters.
  3. In collaboration with System Leadership and ACNO, develops short and long-term operational plans for quality improvement, impacting patient care and achieving goals. Reports to system and local committees.
  4. Coordinates educational activities and updates regarding clinical and regulatory standards to appropriate staff throughout the EV/WC Pavilion.
  5. Leads survey activity and ensures compliance with state and federal requirements, organizational policies, Accreditation Organization, CMS and other regulatory agency standards.
  6. Supports organization efforts related to PCH involvement with patient safety organizations (PSO), Patient Safety collaboratives (SPS), US News and World Report data acquisition and submission, and any additional organizational external benchmarking award activities.
  7. Coaches and develops stakeholders and staff by providing ongoing feedback and development opportunities.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
