Position Summary

This position's primary purpose is to oversee referral coordinator staff. This position reports to the Manager of Practice Transformation. Position also processes incoming referrals and orders for various Phoenix Children's Pediatrics (PCP) locations, utilizing appropriate scheduling systems and software.

Position Duties

  1. Oversees Staff
    • This position oversees assigned referral coordinators working directly and collaboratively with manager, supervisors and staff to provide a high-level of satisfaction with referring providers, divisions, patients and families utilizing Phoenix Children's services.
  2. Processes Incoming Referrals and Orders
    • Processes incoming referrals and orders utilizing appropriate systems and software. Reviews referrals for accuracy. Attaches medical records to referrals and/or electronic medical record. Answers incoming phone calls regarding questions about referrals. Calls referring provider offices to clarify referral data as needed. Redirects non-referral faxes to locations as appropriate.
  3. Oversees Processes
    • Works directly and collaboratively with manager and staff to provide best practice for processing referrals and orders to ensure a high-level of customer satisfaction.
  4. Provides Training
    • Proactively researches and creates training materials related to referrals to include changes to PCP system, best practice for accuracy, efficiency and overall patient, provider and staff satisfaction.
  5. Maintains Proficiencies/Seeks Education
    • Participates in a variety of PCP, hospital, and/or outside agency education, when approved, programs to maintain and enhance current skills and competency levels.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
