Position Summary

Posting Note: As a Medical Assistant for this position, you will work out of the Phoenix, Avondale, or Glendale campus providing back-office duties that will include hands-on procedures including casting patients. It is a busy clinic that provides an opportunity to work beyond charting, "rooming the patients" and taking vital signs. You will work full days at the location sites. On occasion, you may be assigned front office duties to assist at high peak times. Schedule: M-F 7:45 - 4:30 - Three days-Phoenix; Two Days-Avondale or Glendale. Locations: Main Campus, 1919 East Thomas Rd. Phoenix, AZ; Avondale Clinic:1665 North Avondale Blvd. Avondale, AZ Glendale Clinic: 20325 North 51st Avenue, Glendale, AZ Requirements: This position requires a Medical Assistant Diploma and an RMA (AMT) or CMA ( AAMA) certification or an MA Diploma with 5 or more years of MA work experience waives the certification requirement. Previous experience working with children is highly preferred. Must be comfortable speaking to the patient or their parents via phone or in person.

This position works under the direction of a licensed health care professional and performs various clinical and administrative tasks for the assigned area.

Position Duties

  1. As directed by a physician, performs or assists with procedures such as electrocardiogram, pulmonary function, suture and staple removal, dressing changes, and others.
  2. Collects laboratory specimens (including blood specimens), performs point of care testing, and disposes of bio-hazardous materials.
  3. Demonstrates infection control standards related to hand washing and standard precautions.
  4. Prepares and administers medications, communicates telephone prescriptions to pharmacies, and processes medication refills as directed by a physician.
  5. Prepares and instructs patients about examinations, diagnostic tests, medications, special diets, and health maintenance.
  6. Records and communicates patient related information, including vital signs, growth parameters, medical histories, signs, and symptoms, to the physician or licensed health care provider.
  7. Removes sutures and changes dressings.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
