Position Summary

Posting Note: Phoenix Children’s is searching for a Senior Benefits Analyst to join the Human Resources team! The Senior Benefits Analyst role supports all aspects of the employee benefits function which includes but not limited to, all health & welfare and retirement plans for staff, physicians and executives. You will be a system liaison between HR Technology and the benefits team. As a Senior Benefits Analyst you will also identify and lead benefit process and system improvements that positively impact employees while maintaining compliance to all benefit related regulations. This position is a special role, merging benefit experience and the ability to effectively operationalize benefits administration. You will also be responsible for designing and developing day-to-day operational procedures, benefits auditing processes, systems solutions related to benefits and the employee benefit enrollment process. The ideal candidate will have experience in benefit design, analytics, and intermediate to advanced excel skills!

This position is responsible for benefit administration of all benefits. Maintains benefit set-up in Lawson and ensures ongoing benefit-related data integrity. Functions as the liaison between vendors and employees and assists in resolution of complex, non-routine benefits issues. Communicates benefit offerings and maintains accurate enrollment and eligibility information to ensure appropriate premium payment by both participant and PCH. Provides project management for benefit-related projects.

Position Duties

  1. Benefits administration
    • Administers employee benefit programs, such as medical, dental, vision, life, STD/LD, 401(k), flex spending, and supplemental group insurances.
    • Maintains and periodically audits benefit enrollment records to ensure accuracy of premium deductions and expense calculation for general ledger capture
    • Regularly audits provider invoices for accuracy; records additions/deletions and adjusts payments accordingly to ensure appropriate payment of premiums according to contracted terms.
  2. Customer Service
    • Works regularly with employees to resolve complex, non-routine issues and answer benefit related questions; acts as liaison between vendors and employees.
    • Oversees benefits orientation and provides various benefits informational presentations to all staff members to ensure thorough understanding of available options based on current employment and personal status
    • Meets one-on-one with new and prospective physicians and executives to review benefits.
  3. Lawson and on line enrollment system administration
    • Maintains Lawson benefit table set-up for all benefit related programs to ensure ongoing integrity and accuracy of computerized integrated personnel system. Initiates, maintains, and updates all benefit records and files to ensure ongoing accuracy and completeness in accordance with policy and requirements.
    • Enters eligibility information in Lawson for health and welfare plan participants and with appropriate providers to ensure ongoing ease of access by employees and enrolled family members.
    • Works closely and in conjunction with third party providers to identify system requirements to ensure compatibility and functionality with Lawson. Ensures that all electronic files are sent to vendors with accurate data and in a timely manner.
    • Prepares benefits information and statistical/census data and reports, using standard and/or ad hoc HRIS reporting to provide information for decision making to actuaries, auditors, insurance carriers, and management.
  4. Documentation and Communication
    • Assists in the review of all plan documentation, including original and amended texts, agreements, and policies for currency and completeness, to ensure compliance with all provisions of the plan.
    • Oversees communication of introductions and/or modifications to benefit program offerings through use of a variety of employee communication strategies including, but not limited to: brochures, benefit fairs, orientation, and open enrollment, to ensure effective and timely availability of information for successful employee awareness/understanding.
    • Oversees implementation of legally required communication including that required by healthcare reform.
  5. Project Management
    • Provides project leadership for benefit related projects.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
