As a Camp Programs Coordinator, you will be responsible for the annual camp event that will entail recruiting volunteers, budgeting, arranging the logistics (travel, housing, meals) to make it a fun-filled successful event. There are 100-200 children participate in this week-long event in Flagstaff, AZ. In addition, this position will be responsible for monthly events that welcome children with cancer and hematological conditions to participate in fun activities. These programs utilize a large volume of volunteers.

Location: 1919 East Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85016 and Flagstaff during camp week.

Requirements: Associates degree and 3 years of managing, facilitating, and implementing program events for children and volunteers; experience in camp and events planning with strong administrative and computer skills is required.

The Special Programs Coordinator develops, coordinates and implements activities and events throughout the year in collaboration with the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, Bombeck Dialysis Center, Camp Rainbow, Camp Maska and other activity-based programs. This position spends at least 10% of the time travelling locally to meetings or other activities associated with coordinating, planning or executing camp or other special programs related activities. The incumbent spends several overnight stays in a 'camp' environment, exposed to the natural elements in direct support of the assigned camps. This position additionally develops, coordinates, implements and solicits funding for events and camps that meet the medical and emotional needs of children and families who are served through the Center for Cancer and Blood disorders and the Bombeck Dialysis Center.

Position Duties

  • Activities/Events/Camp
    Develops, coordinates, organizes and implements multiple activities and events
    throughout the year in collaboration with the Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders,
    Bombeck Dialysis Center, Camp Rainbow, Camp Maska and other activity-based
    programs throughout PCH.
  • Orientation and Education of Staff and Volunteers
    Identifies and assigns areas of responsibility and orientation for staff, medical staff,
    counselors, specialists, and other volunteers for Camp Rainbow, Camp Maska and
    other activity-based programs.
  • Program Planning
    Leads program planning for camps and special events with involvement from the
    administrative team, planning committee and other clinical and non-clinical staff and
    volunteers.
  • Financial Responsibilities
    Functions as the primary liaison with the PCH Foundation, PCH Communications
    Department and community programs to coordinate services to patients and families
    and solicit funding support; oversees budget and has direct financial responsibility on
    an ongoing basis.
  • Media and Relations
    Coordinates media coverage and press releases during camp and other related
    activities.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
