Position Summary

Posting Note: This position is the Respiratory Care Equipment Coordinator

Under supervision of Respiratory Leadership, this position coordinates and manages supply and equipment related responsibilities ensuring availability and readiness for clinical care.

Position Duties

  1. Supply Management
    • Manages supply-ordering processes. Performs inventory, orders, receives, and stocks where needed.
    • Adjusts inventory based on volumes, availability, and back orders.
    • Collects used re-processable supplies, delivers to Sterile Processing and redistributes processed supplies to appropriate supply areas.
  2. Capital Asset Management
    • Manages capital assets and assists with asset tracking processes.
    • Stages equipment and troubleshoots basic device functionality.
    • Collaborates with Biomedical for timely preventive maintenance.
    • Stays apprised of equipment out of service. Acts as the biomedical liaison to ensure equipment availability based on patient care needs.
  3. Financial Accountability
    • Assists in managing rental equipment assets and ensures timely returns.
    • Demonstrates financial responsibilities through resource management. Identifies cost containment/reduction opportunities. Proposes recommendations to leadership.
    • Assists in product trials and value analysis to determine suitable substitutes, standardize supplies, and reduce costs.
  4. Communication / Collaboration
    • Collaborates and communicates effectively with the RT team and other hospital colleagues.
    • Effectively communicates moderately complex technical information to Biomedical and/or the vendor`s technical support personnel.
    • Collaborates with the total gas management contractor relative to medical gas supply inventory and locations.
    • Assists Materials management with equipment cleaning when needed.
  5. Quality / Regulatory
    • Stays apprised of ECRI alerts. Assists with follow up and collaboration with the appropriate stakeholders.
    • Proactively identifies areas of risk and/or improvements and communicates to leadership.
    • Organizes and maintains order of equipment/supply areas ensuring compliance with Infection Prevention and regulatory guidelines.
  6. Staff Support / Time Management
    • Responsible for the inhaled nitric oxide cylinder exchange and supply ordering. Assists the Team Lead with cylinder exchange process.
    • Manages blood gas supplies. Collaborates with the Team Leaders/Supervisors in managing cartridge/solution pack exchanges.
    • Redistributes and stages equipment as necessary.
    • Manages workload with minimal supervision. Balances multiple priorities effectively. Demonstrates the ability to recognize and prioritize tasks.
  7. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
