Position Summary

Posting Note: As a Medical Assistant, you will work with clinical professionals in our Urology department as you support providers with back-office duties. You may be preparing in-office post-operative procedures, taking vitals, "rooming" and/or assist with circumcisions. In this position, you will utilize your multi-tasking skills, medical assistant skills, and customer service skills to work with our children, parents, and our team. You will travel to other clinics in Scottsdale, Mesa, or Gilbert. The PCH campus will be your base. Every 6-8 weeks you will work supporting our providers on a Saturday morning. If you would like to be a part of this team, please apply!     Requirements: You will need to provide your Medical Assistant Diploma, your RMA or AAMA certification, and your desire to work with children! Note: Other certifications will not be accepted. However, if you are 3 weeks away from testing for one of these certifications, please send in your appointment letter and we can begin the interview process. If you have 5 or more years of work experience, the certification requirement will be waived.   Schedule: M-F 8:00 -5:00 P.M. (Every 6-8 weeks Saturday 8:00 - 12:00 noon)   Location: Main Campus 1919 East Thomas Rd., Phoenix AZ. And Gilbert, Mesa, and Scottsdale, as needed.

This position works under the direction of a licensed health care professional and performs various clinical and administrative tasks for the assigned area.

Position Duties

  1. As directed by a physician, performs or assists with procedures such as electrocardiogram, pulmonary function, suture and staple removal, dressing changes, and others.
  2. Collects laboratory specimens (including blood specimens), performs point of care testing, and disposes of bio-hazardous materials.
  3. Demonstrates infection control standards related to hand washing and standard precautions.
  4. Prepares and administers medications, communicates telephone prescriptions to pharmacies, and processes medication refills as directed by a physician.
  5. Prepares and instructs patients about examinations, diagnostic tests, medications, special diets, and health maintenance.
  6. Records and communicates patient related information, including vital signs, growth parameters, medical histories, signs, and symptoms, to the physician or licensed health care provider.
  7. Removes sutures and changes dressings.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
