Position Summary

Posting Note: This Medical Assistant position will perform back office duties: conducting patient intake," rooming" patients, obtaining vitals, and EKG's, etc. This is a busy office requiring a heartwarming sense of compassion, empathy, and patience as we work with our "little people" and their parents. Schedule: M-F 8:00 - 5:00 P.M. Address: 1919 East Thomas Rd, Phoenix, AZ 85016 Requirements: Medical Assistant Diploma and your RMA (AMT) or CMA (AAMA) and BLS (AHA) is required. However, if you have 5 or more years of Medical Assistant work experience, the certification will be waived. Previous experience working in a cardiology clinic and working with children is preferred.

This position works under the direction of a licensed health care professional and performs various clinical and administrative tasks for the assigned area.

Position Duties

  1. As directed by a physician, performs or assists with procedures such as electrocardiogram, pulmonary function, suture and staple removal, dressing changes, and others.
  2. Collects laboratory specimens (including blood specimens), performs point of care testing, and disposes of bio-hazardous materials.
  3. Demonstrates infection control standards related to hand washing and standard precautions.
  4. Prepares and administers medications, communicates telephone prescriptions to pharmacies, and processes medication refills as directed by a physician.
  5. Prepares and instructs patients about examinations, diagnostic tests, medications, special diets, and health maintenance.
  6. Records and communicates patient related information, including vital signs, growth parameters, medical histories, signs, and symptoms, to the physician or licensed health care provider.
  7. Removes sutures and changes dressings.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
