Position Summary

This position is responsible for coordinating information to support timely and accurate registration for admissions, direct admissions, internal transfers, and external transfers to Phoenix Children`s. Responsibilities include verifying patient demographics, insurance, and initiating authorization notifications for inpatient/outpatient admissions or status changes. Additionally, the role involves collaborating with clinical staff, maintaining accurate registration, and ensuring effective communication to facilitate patient care.

Position Duties

  • Accurately documents all information in the appropriate fields and/or system.
    1. Maintains accuracy when entering demographic and insurance information in the system.
    2. Accurately completes all status changes in appropriate system.
    3. Facilitates daily census reconciliation.
    4. Monitor and update Bed Tracker system.
    5. Creates pre-admission accounts for all unscheduled incoming patients.
  • Accurately completes insurance and authorization verification as appropriate.
    1. Identifies and refers uninsured and under insured patients to a financial counselor.
    2. Completes insurance notification within 24 hours of patient admission.
    3. Performs benefit verification for all direct and transfer admissions.
  • Assists Patient Placement Coordinator in a variety of patient placement duties as appropriate.
    1. Coordinates bed ahead plan with Clinical Supervisor.
    2. Coordinates delivery of appropriate bed to patient room.
    3. Assigns beds for unit to unit transfers and admissions as pre-determined by Patient Placement Coordinator.
    4. Maintains accuracy of bed board.
  • Maintains a positive, professional work relationship with patients/guarantors and all internal and external customers to promote teamwork, cooperation and a positive public image for PCH.
    1. Courteously answers the telephone and answers all questions in a timely manner.
  • Participates in a variety of unit and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
