Posting Note: This Medical Assistant will provide back-office duties to include patient vitals, patient intake rooming, discharging patients, and conducting point of care testing. We are a growing team in Nephrology; there will be opportunities to work hands-on with complex patients that may require transplants, dialysis, and ongoing care.   Schedule: M-F 8:00 - 5:00   Location: Main Location -1920 East Cambridge, Phoenix, AZ; East Valley: 5131 East Southern Mesa and Mercy Gilbert, 3370 Mercy Road, #125, Gilbert, AZ.   You may be asked to travel between Gilbert, Mesa, and Phoenix. Travel to the main campus, Phoenix would normally not be more than 2 days/week. However, you may be asked to travel to 2 locations on a single day, one day per month.   Requirements: Medical Assistant Diploma, RMA/CMA certification, (5 or more years of MA work experience can be considered in lieu of the certification) and previous experience working in complex care environment providing Medical Assistant support to providers preferred.  If you have previous experience working with children and their parents, please apply!

This position works under the direction of a licensed health care professional and performs various clinical and administrative tasks for the assigned area.

1. As directed by a physician, performs or assists with procedures such as electrocardiogram, pulmonary function, suture and staple removal, dressing changes, and others.
2. Collects laboratory specimens (including blood specimens), performs point of care testing, and disposes of bio-hazardous materials.
3. Demonstrates infection control standards related to hand washing and standard precautions.
4. Prepares and administers medications, communicates telephone prescriptions to pharmacies, and processes medication refills as directed by a physician.
5. Prepares and instructs patients about examinations, diagnostic tests, medications, special diets, and health maintenance.
6. Records and communicates patient related information, including vital signs, growth parameters, medical histories, signs, and symptoms, to the physician or licensed health care provider.
7. Removes sutures and changes dressings.
8. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
