Position Summary

Posting Note: As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will support one provider and be responsible for intake meetings with our patients, provide patient care, and perform OCT and other scans as needed. You will be a part of a great and bigger team of technicians that are located in the metro area. This is a department that continues to grow, meeting the needs of our children. Location: Rosenberg Building 1920 East Cambridge, Phoenix, AZ 85006 Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 - 5:00 (no weekends) Required: 1 or more years of experience working directly with an Ophthalmologist or Optometrist in a clinical setting, a strong working knowledge of the functionality of electronic health records which includes a high level of computer literacy and knowledge of examination and diagnostic room procedures, medical equipment, and instruments to administer patient care. A current BLS from AHA. Previous experience working in the field of pediatrics is preferred.

The Ophthalmic Technician assists in the delivery of health care and patient care management working one on one with any practice provider.

Position Duties

  1. Prepares patients for examination and treatment. This includes obtaining patient history, documenting allergies, obtains current vision measurement, maintains medication list, and generating surgical consent forms. Assists the provider in the course of the patient encounter as requested.
  2. Administers medications such as eye drops under physician’s written order.
  3. Performs automated visual field in-office testing procedure.
  4. Prepares exam and treatment rooms with necessary instruments.
  5. Maintains supplies and equipment for treatment, including sterilization.
  6. Travels with doctor from office to office or hospital, if applicable.
  7. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
