Position Summary

The Manager of Strategic Planning develops the infrastructure and systematic processes for collecting, reporting and analyzing market demographic and competitor activity and trends as well as industry, regulatory, legislative and economic factors Phoenix Children`s Hospital must anticipate to be successful. Establishing a robust set of tools, processes and methods for reporting and analysis are essential to create business, program and strategic plans for Phoenix Children’s. This position is charged with the development and maintenance of relevant data, and the methods for analysis used by the Strategic Planning Team.

Position Duties

  1. Develops new and refines existing analytical techniques, templates and resources to enable effective business planning, including market forecasting, competitive intelligence, operational review, and financial analysis. Continually reviews and reports market and financial data reflecting the opportunities for clinical growth for the Hospital. Proactively communicates challenges and issues. Develops presentations for leadership with findings and recommendations.
  2. Produces reports and analyses that support the organization, its operating units and divisions identify areas of opportunity to grow and better serve its markets and threats that need to be anticipated and overcome as part of an annual planning cycle (in conjunction with finance and operations) and on projects as assigned.
  3. Assures the data and methods for analyzing markets, programs and services are sound and used responsibly to support decision-making.
  4. Proactively monitors and reports progress against the action plans and objectives related to the strategic plan for management team and Board. Facilitates momentum and progress. Analyze to determine risks, concerns and deficiencies, and provides alternative tactics and strategies. Develops the monthly Strategic Plan Progress Report for review by SVP/Chief Strategy Officer. Identifies progress and challenges and barriers to facilitate action and resolution. Trains and assists participants with effective use of tools.
  5. Builds a team of capable analysts with the use of appropriate Human Resource policies and tools to facilitate and ensure the ability of the staff within the area of strategic planning to establish clear development plans for building and growing their skillsets, and support them in their work for PCH and in pursuit of their individual professional aspirations.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
