Position Summary

This position is responsible for the strategic leadership and operational management of the Audiology service line at Phoenix Childrens Hospital. Responsible for overseeing existing and implementing new programs for audiology services for inpatient, outpatient and ENT practices across the enterprise at main campus and satellite locations. Accountable for demonstrating a commitment to providing high quality patient care and service through positive leadership and total quality management. Maintains standards for professional practice and regulatory compliance and is responsible for overall operations, planning, budgeting, staffing, customer service and performance and improvement efforts. This position collaborates with the Chief of Otolaryngology for clinical pathways, best practices, education, and strategic growth for this service line.

Position Duties

  1. 1. Financial Management
    • a.Understands various billing models and basic revenue cycle and identifies interventions to respond to changes in reimbursement
    • b.Manages outstanding referral list and strategizes growth opportunities to meet consumer demand
    • c.Creates, monitors and analyzes assigned budgets and address variances with action plans
    • d.Manages and meets productivity metric and variances for Audiology services
    • e.Manages capital planning for audiology services
    • f.Ensures expenses are managed
  2. 2. Human Resource Management
    • a.Identifies staffing needs for audiology services, develops action plans to meet these needs as warranted, including the addition of other sites within the enterprise
    • b.Manages human resources within the scope of labor laws and hospital policies
    • c.Applies recruitment techniques and strategies to fill vacancies
    • d.Applies individual and team interview techniques to select qualified applicants
    • e.Develops, oversees and evaluates onboarding process and content for audiology services
    • f.Conducts staff evaluations, assists staff with setting goals, implements continual performance development, initiates corrective actions and terminates staff as needed
  3. 3. Performance Improvement
    • a.Identifies key performance indicators for service line, establishes data collection methodology, evaluates performance data, and responds to outcome measurement findings
    • b.Ensures timely evaluations, consults and documentation according to hospital, state and federal policy
    • c.Ensures QAPI plans in place to meet national benchmarks and metrics for audiology services
    • d.Ensures service line is in compliance with all Joint Commission, federal and state, CMS and hospital requirements
    • e.Assesses customer (internal and external) and patient satisfaction; develops and implements strategies to address and improve satisfaction issues
    • f.Ensures safety events and trends are actively managed and addressed
    • g.Actively promotes internal and external communication
  4. 4. Strategic Management
    • a.Provides oversight and change management for audiology service line
    • b.Identifies program development needs to provide state of the art pediatric audiology services.
    • c.Accountable for strategic goals and project outcomes for audiology services throughout the enterprise
    • d.Provides expert and concise evidence based documents using data to drive decisions and monitor progress
    • e.Builds working relationships with other leaders and service lines to drive performance improvement and meets strategic goals for the organization as they relate to audiology services
    • f.Contributes to a culture of innovation to drive change and improvement
  5. Clinical Leadership
    • a.Maintains clinical skills and expertise to practice within audiology service line
    • b.Provides clinical support and direction regarding pediatric audiology services to inpatient, outpatient and ENT clinics
    • c.Expected to evaluate and treat patients for 50% of worked time until service line grows
  6. 6. Relationship Management and Influencing Behaviors
    • a.Identifies when conflict remains, and intervenes to help resolve
    • b.Identifies issues that require immediate attention and applies principles of crisis management to handle situations as needed
