Position Summary

This position provides quality and regulatory support for the Quality and Regulatory Manager of the laboratory for the development, implementation, and administration of the laboratory`s quality management and safety programs to ensure all applicable regulatory compliance.

Position Duties

  1. Effectively manages Laboratory Quality Management activities.
    • Customizes the Laboratory’s quality improvement and safety/hygiene reports on a regular basis so the information relayed will be pertinent and timely to each audience reviewing the data.
    • Devises and implements solutions to improve services and creates methods to quantify these levels of improvement to demonstrate the potential level of quality achieved.
    • Recognizes, monitors, and analyzes trends in Laboratory activities for the purposes of improving process flow, enhancing productivity, and/or increasing patient and employee satisfaction.
    • Assists in developing and writing Laboratory policies and procedures, as pertinent to job duties.
    • Serves as a liaison between Laboratory and other hospital areas to coordinate all quality improvement activities for optimal efficiency and effectiveness; recommends process changes as appropriate.
    • Uses effective process improvement techniques to identify outliers in all processes of Laboratory services, to include communications, order entry, specimen collection, processing and testing, and results reporting and billing.
  2. Works as overseer of the Laboratory Safety and Chemical Hygiene Plans, to maintain a safe environment for Laboratory staff and comply with governmental and institutional regulatory agencies.
  3. Assists Laboratory Information System Analyst with changes, modifications, and enhancements to the Laboratory Information System.
    • Works in conjunction with the Laboratory Information System Analyst to initiate and test related quality improvement enhancements, such as database changes, to ensure results achieve desired outcomes throughout all affected Laboratory and external systems.
    • Assists in building and maintaining test dictionaries.
    • Maintains laboratory Chargemaster; requests additions, changes, deletions through proper channels.
  4. Coordinates and monitors accreditation standards and provides oversight for inspection activities. Serves as liaison for activities involving regulatory (i.e., government) bodies.
  5. Performs routine billing edits through the monitoring of departmental and organizational reports. Troubleshoots other billing issues, as requested from billing department.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
