Position Summary

The Program Manager will support many of the Neuroscience Clinical and Research Programs. Duties are carried out under the direction of the Director, Barrow Neurological Institute at Phoenix Children's Hospital, Director, Research Coordination and Education, and the division chiefs.

Position Duties

  1. Provides project-related leadership. Ensures adherence to protocols, standard operating procedures, and applicable federal, state and accreditation regulations. Schedules, supervises, and manages employees, their duties and performance. Supports the Program mission, goals, and organizational activities. Leads evaluation efforts and provides key input on outcome measurements.
    • Create policies and procedures and designs specific tools to enhance efficiency and accuracy in completing clinical and research tasks.
    • Appropriately maintains records, policies, procedures, employee, clinical and research instrument documentation in accordance with CAP accreditation standards and policies.
    • Introduces and trains clinical and research personnel on policy and procedures related to Neuroscience programs.
    • Monitors time cards and schedules (as appropriate).
    • Provides input into performance reviews and evaluation of research personnel.
  2. Provides Neuroscience Compliance/ Technical / IT Support
    • Leads compliance activities related to Neuroscience programs
    • Maintains appropriate clinical and/or IRB records, submissions, and amendments.
    • Prepares reports as needed.
    • Ensures clinical operations in terms of facilities, equipment maintenance, and instrument calibration. This includes physical and virtual resources.
    • Oversees compliance with clinical protocols. Trains and provides intervention as needed.
    • Assists with ongoing experiments.
    • Assists Directors with refining policies, procedures and protocols as needed.
  3. Manages the development, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of assigned projects.
    • Ensures study activities are completed in compliance with protocol or standard operating procedures and that study staff has appropriate training and certification.
    • Provides input and manages evaluation activities, including providing guidance on evaluation questions and outcome measurements.
    • Will work closely with the PI to effectively meet study objectives in a timely manner.
  4. Supervises research staff
    • Oversees data and specimen collection.
    • Oversees and trains other study personnel, including student learners.
    • Complies with all lab regulatory and safety requirements and monitors Neuroscience staff compliance.
  5. Provides Neuroscience Laboratory and Clinical Upkeep
    • Manages routine daily laboratory activities.
    • Coordinates ordering resources and supplies.
    • Coordinates laboratory and clinical processes and flow to ensure throughput and efficiency.
    • Maintains medical laboratory supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies; placing and expediting orders for supplies; verifying receipt of supplies.
    • Maintains equipment performance by establishing quality standards; developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures; ensuring staff compliance; certifying instrument performance; arranging equipment replacement, service, and repair.
    • Around the clock on call availability for set up and troubleshooting of clinical and research neuro monitoring devices used in the pediatric ICU.
  6. Coordinates budgets and funding, drives program development and growth.
    • Identifies funding sources and assists in grant writing/collaborating with external partners.
    • Identifies and collaborates with key stake holders to develop services in support of those stake holders’ needs.
  7. Provides conflict resolution
    • Consults with physicians, laboratory and clinical managers, technical coordinators, laboratory directors, nurses, and other health care professionals
    • Attends all relevant committee meetings.
  8. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
