Position Summary

The Gift Shop Supervisor assists the Gift Shop Manager with the day-to-day oversight and coordination of operations across three physical Gift Shop locations and the Online Store. This position supports staff supervision, customer service, inventory management, financial controls, online order fulfillment, and overall operational workflow to ensure consistent service and operational standards across all locations. Working under the direction of the Gift Shop Manager, the Supervisor helps ensure Gift Shop operations are conducted efficiently and in accordance with established departmental goals, operating budgets, quality standards, inventory controls, policies, and customer service expectations.

Position Duties

  • Assists the Gift Shop Manager with the day-to-day oversight and coordination of operations across three physical Gift Shop locations and the Online Store to ensure consistent execution of operational, sales, and customer service standards.
    • Supports daily workflow and staffing needs across all Gift Shop locations and the Online Store.
    • Assists with developing and maintaining staff schedules and adjusts coverage based on business volume, operational needs, and departmental priorities.
    • Provides day-to-day direction and operational support to Gift Shop staff within the scope of assigned responsibilities.
    • Serves as an operational resource for staff and assists with issue resolution, escalating matters to the Gift Shop Manager as appropriate.
    • Maintains proficiency in point-of-sale systems, e-commerce platforms, and other technology utilized within the department.
    • Identifies opportunities to improve workflow, efficiency, service, and consistency and partners with the Manager on implementation of process improvements.
  • Supports the delivery of consistent, high-quality customer experience across all Gift Shop locations and the Online Store.
    • Assists customers in person, by phone, and through online channels by providing product information, merchandise recommendations, and sales support.
    • Ensures Online Store orders are processed and fulfilled accurately and within established service expectations.
    • Addresses customer concerns in a professional and timely manner and escalate significant or unresolved issues to the Gift Shop Manager as appropriate.
    • Communicates customer feedback, trends, and service opportunities to the Manager to support ongoing operational and merchandising decisions.
    • Reinforces consistent customer service standards across all physical locations and Online Store operations.
  • Assists the Gift Shop Manager with inventory management and merchandise availability across three physical locations and the Online Store.
    • Monitors inventory levels, sales trends, product movement, and customer demand to identify replenishment needs and inventory priorities.
    • Coordinates and supports merchandise transfers between Gift Shop locations to help maintain appropriate inventory levels and support sales opportunities.
    • Assists with receiving, cycle counts, physical inventories, inventory reconciliation, and related inventory control activities.
    • Identifies fast-selling, slow-moving, seasonal, and customer-requested merchandise and communicates observations and recommendations to the Gift Shop Manager.
    • Supports the accuracy of product availability across the physical Gift Shop locations and the Online Store.
  • Supports accurate financial transactions, cash-handling procedures, and related operational controls across Gift Shop operations.
    • Ensures staff follow established procedures for cash, credit/debit card, payroll deduction, department transfer, online, and other approved payment transactions.
    • Assists with reviewing daily financial activity and identifying transaction, deposit, register, or inventory discrepancies.
    • Follows established procedures and internal controls to support accurate inventory valuation and financial records.
    • Ensures required financial and transaction documentation is completed accurately and maintained in accordance with departmental procedures.
    • Promptly reports discrepancies, unusual transactions, or financial concerns to the Gift Shop Manager for review and resolution.
  • Assists the Gift Shop Manager with staff training, development, supervision, and performance support across Gift Shop operations.
    • Provides routine coaching, guidance, and feedback to staff to support customer service, productivity, accountability, and adherence to departmental standards.
    • Assists with onboarding and training employees and volunteers on Gift Shop procedures, point-of-sale systems, Online Store order fulfillment, inventory practices, customer service expectations, and departmental policies.
    • Reinforces consistent procedures and performance expectations across all Gift Shop locations and Online Store operations.
    • Works collaboratively with the Manager to identify training needs and address performance concerns in accordance with Human Resources policies and procedures.
    • Supports effective communication, teamwork, and coordination among staff working across multiple locations.
    • Assists with seasonal initiatives, merchandise launches, promotions, special events, and other departmental projects.
    • Provides operational support and coverage at any Gift Shop location based on departmental needs.
  • Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
