Position Summary
This position coordinates and implements activities and functions of the High-Risk Perinatal Program (HRPP) by focusing on developmental aspects of infants’ growth, and assisting parents and staff to increase their understanding of infant growth and development.
Position Duties

Assessment and Coordination of Developmental Care Strategies
1. Works collaboratively with members of patient care team with parents to formulate individualized and developmentally supportive care strategies for assigned patients. Infants <29 weeks will receive a NIDCAP while other high-risk infants receive developmental observations.
2. Collaborates with healthcare team to develop goals for care strategies designed to contribute positively to treatment objectives.
3. Regularly screens infants and families for developmental needs. Works collaboratively with members of patient care team and in partnership with parents to formulate individualized, developmentally supportive care strategies.
4. Acts as hospital representative for HRPP developmental care requirements including annual and quarterly reports, quarterly meetings and other duties as required by HRPP.
5. Regularly reviews, revises, and develops policies, procedures, and guidelines that have developmental care practices in collaboration with other neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) healthcare team members -
Staff Development and Education
1. Assists in planning, implementing and evaluating effectiveness of a variety of educational and in-service programs designed to meet family-centered, developmentally supportive care issues for staff in the NICU. -
Quality Improvement
1. Assists in maintaining the overall integrity of NICU developmental care program through appropriate use of research and clinical quality improvement projects as part of overall NICU projects. -
Maintains Clinical Competency
1. Maintains professional and technical competency through regular participation in a variety of educational programs and in-services, reviewing relevant professional publication and materials, and participating in professional societies to ensure ongoing awareness and understanding of most current methodologies, practices, and philosophies as applied to patient care population.
2. Regularly reviews research based literature to improve clinical care for specific clinical populations. -
Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
