Posting Note: We are seeking a strategic and experienced Manager of Clinical Education to lead and advance our nursing professional development programs. This role is pivotal in overseeing the Clinical Educator team and ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality education, competency validation, and staff development across the organization. In this role, you will partner closely with nursing and executive leaders to align education with clinical practice standards, patient safety priorities, and regulatory requirements, while operationalizing key initiatives that support accreditation readiness and professional practice excellence. You will lead educator performance, resource allocation, and program outcomes, using data and collaboration to drive continuous improvement and strengthen clinical capability at scale. The Manager of Clinical Education provides operational, clinical, and people leadership for the educator team and related clinical education functions. This role oversees day-to-day educator operations, performance management, resource allocation, and implementation of organizational initiatives to ensure high-quality clinical education, competency validation, and regulatory compliance. The manager partners closely with the Director of Professional Practice to operationalize strategic priorities, support accreditation readiness, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Position Duties

Clinical Education Leadership
1. Collaborates with the Director of Professional Practice to provide operational leadership and oversight for Clinical Educators.
2. Ensures consistent delivery of high-quality clinical education, clinical orientation, competency validation, and professional development programs.
3. Collaborates with interdisciplinary leaders, educators, and clinical teams to align education with clinical practice standards, patient safety priorities, and regulatory requirements.
4. Serves as a clinical education resource, maintaining current knowledge of nursing practice standards, evidence-based practice, and hospital policies.
5. Supports implementation of nursing policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with regulatory and accrediting bodies.
6. Assures readiness and compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, Magnet, and other applicable professional and regulatory standards as they relate to clinical education. -
Clinical Educator Personnel Management
1. Manages all aspects of personnel administration for assigned Clinical Educators, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, and retention.
2. Provides direct supervision, coaching, mentoring, and professional development support to educator staff.
3. Establishes clear performance expectations, monitors outcomes, and delivers timely feedback using established HR tools and processes.
4. Supports educator engagement, well-being, and professional growth while fostering a collaborative and accountable team culture.
5. Works in partnership with the Director of Professional Practice to support succession planning and leadership development.
6. Collaborates with unit leaders and Nursing Services Managers to identify education needs, address performance gaps, and support staff competency. -
Quality, Safety & Performance Improvement
1. Oversees educator participation in unit-based and system-wide quality and performance improvement initiatives.
2. Monitors education-related metrics, competency completion, and outcomes to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
3. Collaborates with nursing leadership and quality teams to address safety events, practice deviations, and education-related corrective actions.
4. Supports use of dashboards, LMS data, and reporting tools to evaluate program effectiveness. -
Strategic & Operational Management
1. Operationalizes clinical education initiatives aligned with organizational and departmental strategic goals.
2. Assists with planning, implementation, and evaluation of accreditation-related activities and clinical education programs.
3. Participates in nursing, hospital, and interdisciplinary committees related to clinical education.
4. Supports shared governance structures by promoting educator and staff engagement in decision-making.
5. Influences nursing practice through participation in professional organizations and evidence-based initiatives. -
Financial & Resource Management
1. Manages educator staffing, schedules, and resource allocation to meet organizational and unit needs.
2. Assists with monitoring operational expenses and resource utilization within assigned areas.
3. Supports productivity and efficient use of educator time and educational resources.
4. Identifies opportunities to optimize processes while maintaining quality and compliance. -
