Position Summary

This position performs a variety of routine tasks and functions including receiving, shipping and distributing supplies and equipment to hospital departments that are received on the Receiving Dock. In addition, this position functions in a leadership role with all Receiving department staff (Receivers, Courier Driver, Shuttle Driver, and Dock Security). This position coordinates staffing schedules and assignments and investigates as well as addresses receiving and delivery issues.

Position Duties

  1. Provides advice and direction to Receiving staff regarding receiving and shipping activity. Sets staffing schedules to insure items are received and delivered appropriately and timely.
  2. Reports any employee and staffing issues immediately to the Manager for prompt resolution by the Manager.
  3. Responsible to ensure that entry of receiving information into computerized materials management system, printing of receiving ticket, and application of property tags as required is completed daily.
  4. Ensures that files and records of shipping and receiving activities are maintained, including but not limited to, purchase orders, direct deliveries, shipping/receiving logs, proof of delivery and equipment bar code tags.
  5. Prepares and/or ensures that staff prepares outgoing materials for shipping, including returns and repairs. Confirms presence of accurate labels, purchase orders, return authorizations, and materials disposition documents for all packets in accordance with established standards.
  6. Prioritizes and distributes orders to requesting departments in accordance with established customer service standards. Ensures that electrical safety inspections are completed before delivery to the requesting department.
  7. Provides assistance as needed to resolve and report shipping problems, including, but not limited to, damage, substitutes, back orders, and misdirected orders.
  8. Receives incoming orders and verifies against bill of lading or shipping documents to ensure accuracy of shipment. Performs visual inspection to identify any damage items and notates any damages on the bill of lading of shipping document. Notifies Purchasing staff of any discrepancies.
  9. Regularly works with prime vendor and other contracted staff by assisting with incoming and outgoing shipments and warehouse coverage to ensure accurate and timely delivery of supplies.
  10. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
