Posting Note: Great work from home Opportunity. After 6-8 weeks of initial training and onboarding employee has the ability to work from home. Currently for this position work from home is available to those that live in Arizona as occasional meetings and trainings do require staff to come on site. The Pre Access Specialist III is responsible for accurate and complete insurance verification, authorization, and complete pre-registration when applicable of one or more of the following: Medication authorizations, Genomics Testing, and all scheduled infusions. The position works within the EMR using an automated insurance verification tool along with payer websites and documents within the EMR. This position also works closely with the pharmacy and clinical team to ensure that high dollar drugs are authorized.

Position Duties

  1. Obtains insurance verification and benefits using an automated verification tool, insurance carrier websites, or by phone. Prepares an estimate for scheduled service and notifies the patient/guarantor of any applicable out of pocket and requests payment if applicable. Accurately documents all information in the appropriate fields and or/account notes.
  2. Obtains all necessary authorizations for Medication authorizations, Genomics Testing, and all scheduled infusions visits and accurately documents all information in the appropriate fields and/or account notes.
  3. Reviews detailed clinical notes that can include but not limited to passed and failed medications and/or Road Maps for future treatments.
  4. Organizes, prioritizes and reviews daily work activity to ensure completion of assigned workload.
  5. Courteously answers telephone and/or emails and answers all questions in a timely manner. Maintains a positive working relationship with patients/guarantors, insurance companies, clinical personnel, co workers, and management to promote teamwork, cooperation, and a positive public image for PCH.
  6. Participates in a variety of unit and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels.
  7. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
