Position Summary

The Revenue Cycle Tech I performs a variety of clerical duties for the Revenue Cycle Department to support the ongoing accuracy and completeness of all billing, collections and support services in accordance with established policies, practices and regulatory requirements.

Position Duties

  1. Receives packages and mail (researches mail prior to filing), responds to inquiries via phone, email and/or mail, as appropriate; takes messages and routes to proper person/area to ensure timely and effective provision of information. Follows all department and hospital-wide policies. Picks up and sorts daily Revenue cycle lockbox and correspondence. Opens mail and adds patient account information to insurance correspondence, patient correspondence and other paperwork. Scans paperwork into patient chart via software ChartMaxx. Reviews rejected claims and link insurance information were applicable.
  2. Prepares itemized bills and collection letters for folders for self-pay patient accounts and self-pay-after-insurance accounts. Prints HCFAs and EOBs to file to secondary payors Participates in a variety of department, unit, and hospital educational programs to maintain current skill and competency levels.
  3. Processes medical records and release of information request for internal and external customers. Ensures requested information is transferred to the appropriate parties in a HIPAA compliant format. Retrieves medical records from SCM and imports medical records into ChartMaxx to complete internal and external medical record requests.
  4. Prepares ChartMaxx cabinets/drawers for scanned medical records and itemized statements. Reviews and routes documents located in the ChartMaxx lost and found to the appropriate medical record number. Scans remits for internal customers and creates cabinets/drawers in ChartMaxx to house documents for future reference.
  5. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
