Position Summary

The Research Lab Intern serves as a paid intern to established scientists in a Translational Research Laboratory. Employee assists in the conduct of supervised translational research related to the goals of specific scientific investigation. Duties are carried out under the direct supervision of supervisors, which include the principal investigator or designee. Employee performs a variety of non-technical and a limited number of routine technical laboratory duties.

Position Duties

  1. Communication
    • Communicates clearly in person, writing, and via electronic media.
    • Maintains a detailed log of research activities in a laboratory notebook.
  2. Technical Research Procedures
    • Participates in the collection and preparation of samples for analysis.
    • Conducts routine experimental procedures for the collection of data.
  3. Data Analysis
    • Performs data entry.
    • Gathers documents and information for reports and presentations.
  4. Attendance/Participation
    • Attendance according to established work schedule.
    • Attends and participates in project team meetings, departmental meetings and other conferences and meetings required by the project.
  5. Laboratory Citizenship
    • Tends to assigned laboratory duties, such as upkeep, maintenance, compliance, and the like.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
