Position Summary

This position coordinates and oversees the daily operational activities of the Emily Center and serves as a liaison to all hospital departments and community/national organizations to ensure evidence-based, high quality individualized health information.

Position Duties

  1. Prepares balanced individualized health information packets for families to include conducting remote on-line research.
    • Input data into the EDS for documentation of research and information provided for patrons to ensure continuity of care.
  2. Oversees operational activities of the Emily Center by monitoring quality and effectiveness of work flow, problem resolution and trouble-shooting issues, and processes to ensure optimum efficiency and achievement of established mission and goals.
    • Assist families with their information requests; greet patrons; answer phones; assisting in library operations as needed, such as checking in and out books.
  3. Collaborates with PCH Health Professionals (physicians, nurse practitioners, etc) and community groups to inform families about authoritative, up-to-date and understandable sources of pediatric health information including books, DVD's, handouts and websites.
    • Assists in library collection development for books, A/V materials, computer software, and other learning resources and tools.
  4. Assist in projects and strategic goals of The Emily Center.
  5. Maintains professional and technical competency through constantly pursuing knowledge and self-improvement by remaining apprised of current health care and library trends.
  6. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
