Position Summary

This position performs a variety of routine tasks and functions to stock, clean, and transport supplies, equipment, and other patient related items to provide for the maintenance of efficiently functioning patient care areas in accordance with established schedules, practices, and standards.

Position Duties

  1. Breaks down stored bulk supplies into individual units. Selects and stocks quantities for supply cart to meet patient care area needs.
  2. Cleans and sanitizes central core and unit specific equipment. Strips down, disinfects, and places in clean bagging of isolettes and DME in accordance with established procedures, enduring proper PPE is maintained at all times.
  3. Inventories and re-stocks patient rooms and common areas in accordance with established par levels. Assists other areas as needed.
  4. Maintains all related documentation for areas and equipment being cleaned.
  5. Participates in a variety of department and hospital sponsored educational programs to maintain skills and competencies.
  6. Performs inventory counts of all equipment, rooms, soiled utility rooms, and carts. Stocks and replenishes items to provide for ongoing availability of required items.
  7. Performs visual inspection of equipment as part of cleaning. Identifies problems, initiates work order/labeling for preventative maintenance, and notifies appropriate unit manager of malfunctions.
  8. Provides back up support to other areas as needed/requested.
  9. Transports a variety of medical supplies, pharmaceuticals, blood products, specimens, supplies, and materials to and from care areas.
  10. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
