Position Summary

This position performs polysomnography testing to provide data for diagnosis of sleep related disorders in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, and accrediation requirements. Strong staging and scoring is a must. Under the direction of the Manager, this position also provides oversight of daily technical operations related to operating budget, quality control, inventory management, and accrediation standards.

Position Duties

  1. Performs procedures appropriate to the competence and credentials of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (R PSG T) with emphasis on staging and scoring sleep studies.
  2. Acts as a liaison between the subcontractors, PCH patient services, and the Sleep Lab scheduling sleep studies.
    • Reviews patient charts/history to determine tech:patient ratio.
    • Reviews the sleep schedule daily; reschedules patients as needed to maintain desired fill-rate for number of beds available.
    • Works with Patient Services and Insurance to ensure appropriate referral, authorizations and registration prior to sleep studies.
    • Maintains sleep study statistics.
  3. Staff supervision; Lab Supervision
    • Assists the manager with programmatic supervision of sleep study testing and equipment maintenance.
    • Assists the manager in program advancement, personnel management, quality assessment and assurance, operational, and financial direction of Sleep Lab services.
    • Acts as a supervisor and liaison for the Sleep Lab in the absence of the department manager.
  4. Maintains continuing education and competencies; acquires new competencies relative to industry standards in Sleep Medicine and sleep studies as an R PSG T.
  5. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
