Position Summary

The Lead Patient Transport position performs high quality transport services for all patients. Serves in an area specific leadership role. Facilitates communication of operational processes and policies to Patient Transporters, as well as performing dispatching services as needed.

Position Duties

  1. Assists Supervisor with daily operational activities related to Patient Transport Services.
    • Monitor quality and effectiveness of work flow, problem resolution, and trouble-shooting issues, and or/process to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with all policies and procedures. Assists with the collection and compiling of monthly statistical measures. Prepares related operational and statistical reports for management to assist in decision making. Coordinates work activities and provides limited supervision of assigned staff to ensure achievement of established goals, objectives, and outcomes. Stepping in to resolve any delays in service to maintain service levels. Provides guidance, mentoring, and direction as appropriate for ongoing staff development.
  2. Maintains a professional and technical competency in all aspects of the patient transport business through constantly pursuing knowledge and self-improvements and awareness of latest technology and practices to improve outcomes.
    • Understands and oversees technology as it relates to patient transport and dispatch functions including but not limited to dashboards, patient tracking, Sunrise Clinical Manager, and communication systems.
  3. Serves as dispatcher and patient transporter while attending to other responsibilities.
    • Works cooperatively and closely with technologists and care unit coordinators to provide time sensitive transport services between care units and testing areas.
    • Initiates recommendations for equipment acquisition and/or arranges for repair of existing equipment as appropriate while maintaining budgetary discipline.Serves as dispatcher and patient transporter while attending to other responsibilities. Remain a constant professional and interface appropriately with subordinates, co-workers, nursing, physicians and all levels of the leadership team.
  4. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
