Position Summary

This position provides Radiation Physics support for the clinical and research programs for Medical Imaging, as well as CT, X-Ray, Nuc Med, and IR. The Radiation Physicist coordinates and oversees optimization and implementation of Radiation related clinical and research protocols developed by PCH faculty and/or newly available as commercial or non-FDA approved technologies from our Imaging equipment manufacturer(s) or other sources. Works with physicians, scientists, and technologists to optimize and maintain the radiation quality and safety for clinical imaging and its related clinical trials. Assists in the design and execution of radiation related data collection, data processing, analysis and interpretation. Responsible for developing, conducting, and documenting a robust Radiation safety and quality assurance program. The Radiation Physicist will also educate physicians, fellows, and technologists on the technical aspects of radiation as it relates to the clinical setting.

Position Duties

  1. Keeps up to date with innovations in radiation producing technologies and medical applications in area of clinical expertise via scientific literature, symposia and international conferences.
  2. Develops an in-depth knowledge of Philips’ Ionizing Technologies.
  3. Oversees and coordinates radiation dosimetry program for PCH. Provides ALARA review of dosimeter reports. Educates and enforces ARRA recommendation related to ALARA.
  4. Performs annual Radiation Physicist inspection on all radiation producing equipment for facility. Assures ACR Accreditation readiness.
  5. Assists in the process of renovation, new build/projects regarding shielding requirements and compliance.
  6. Guides clinical research, pre-product development and clinical validation of radiation dose reduction, image optimization and technical advancement related applications.
  7. Guides and manages the research projects.
  8. Periodically publishes research results in scientific journals and presents results at scientific conferences. Innovates in the field of expertise.
  9. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
