Position Summary

Posting Note: This position will work with front-line staff in order to develop and complete an IRB (Internal Review Board) approved nursing led research study. - Research experience required.

This position supports the integration of evidence-based practice (EBP) and research into clinical practice. Provides assistance and guidance in all activities that build a culture of inquiry and enhances the quality of care at Phoenix Children`s. Provides education on EBP and research methodologies to facilitate collaborative and multidisciplinary research partnerships.

Position Duties

  1. Facilitates and conducts nursing-led research in accordance with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Officer for Human Research Protections (OHRP), and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) guidelines.
    • Demonstrates knowledge of federal regulations and regulatory knowledge for conducting research.
    • Completes all IRB required documentation.
    • Serves as principal investigator (PI) on nurse-led research projects, and is responsible for all aspects of the study design, protocol development, implementation and execution of project, collection of data, analysis, and dissemination of findings (internally/externally).
    • Builds collaborative research teams, and mentors frontline nursing staff in the principals of the research process.
    • Identifies sources for grant funding.
    • Participates in the implementation of system-wide education plan for research.
  2. Initiates, coordinates, and leads evidence-based practice initiatives.
    • Coordinates nurse-led EBP projects.
    • Mentors frontline staff in the use of the approved EBP model and implementation of EBP.
    • Disseminates EBP findings internally and externally.
    • Participates in the implementation of system-wide education plan for EBP.
  3. Facilitates use of current evidence to support clinical practices changes and improve quality outcomes.
    • Searches and evaluates current literature to address practice gaps.
    • Facilitates frontline staff engagement in EBP through participation in nursing governance structure.
    • Supports frontline staff to make evidence-based decisions and or practice changes based on current literature.
  4. Performs miscellaneous job related duties as requested.
